I just ordered through Quartet though I live in the United States! Does anyone know how long shipping usually is from Quartet? Also was I stupid to not just order it from SAE?

I was so hyped I just hit order! I have been dying for this! It is one of my grails!

I really can't overstate how excited I am for this release. It is the absolute highlight of my week. I have been dying for this release for many, many years. The sound quality of the original OST always felt flat to me. I am excited to hear how much better this sounds. And the film version of Hi-Jack is going to be EXCELLENT! I am so damn excited. I did a dance when I saw this!

Nothing from the 90s (or since the digital age) can really sound any better on a "remaster" than what it did on the original albums imho. If anything, in some cases, the original albums got the volume put too high, so it actually sounds distortet in places (like on The Peacemaker). But other than that, unless it's a different mix (but that has nothing to do with mastering), any new releases don't sound any better sound quality wise (I'm referring to Zimmer expansions)

Thanks for that Per. I always thought it sounded more dynamic in the movie though. The Quartet samples sound really good.

For those who received their copy, how does the film version of Hi-Jack sound?

Ordered. I imagine this one won’t be around for long at 1500 units.

I didn’t see this release till last night. I panicked and immediately purchased from Quarter once I saw it. Been wanting this forever.

The film version of Hi Jack sounds much better without that electric guitar at the end!

I am checking twice a day for my shipping status! The samples from Quartet sound like a major step up from the original album! The unreleased cues are pretty darn awesome too.

And First Breath, next time I’ll remember to record a video and upload it. Lol

Also, I actually love electric guitar in the album version. The guitar throughout the score is the first thing that drew me in. The film version of Hi-Jack is great too obviously and I am glad to get it.

I just really dont like it in that last minute of Hi Jack. It might be because as I watched the movie I really loved that part in the scene and was super excited to listen to it after from the OST, and was a bit set back by that guitar coming in. I just didnt expect it, lol!

I need to brush up on this movie. All I remember about it is a coked-up Gary Busey.

I am on the opposite end. I discovered the score and listened to it often for a year or two before I ever saw the movie. I used the score a lot for my fiction writing. So I became accustomed to that electric guitar in Hi-Jack. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched the movie.

I'll never forget Busey describing his successful landing from a skydive in a behind-the-scenes interview: "I landed perfectly, like a potato chip landing on the surface of a lake."

The liner notes in this release are fantastic. I learned so much about Zimmer's efforts to build a better sample library and that DROP ZONE was essentially the pilot project for those newly recorded orchestral samples.

Mine should arrive tomorrow! How much better is the sound? I can't wait to read the liner notes, I am really interested now.

I am not surprised Zimmer used this as his pilot score because the sound carried over into The Rock, The Peacemaker, Crimson Tide, and others.

I am jealous. I didn't see it till almost a week till after it was released. I am just glad it didn't sell out. I am going to go for a nice long run listening to this.

The audio is great! The first OST had very VERY low audio volume.
So this is a big improvement! There is still some parts I find to have low volume.
But its all still much better than the OST.
