One of the Morricone pieces on these albums gave me an anxiety attack once, which is the only time that's ever happened to me listening to music. Wanted the previous box forever so I'm not gonna miss out on this one.

That is a very interesting comment - I am about to use these discs experimentally in relation to Feng Shui.
Sorry to hear that that particular music increased your negative vibrations.

Tortura from Fistful of Dollars does my head in - but given the track title it shows Morricone's brilliance.

That does demonstrate the power of music in relationship to health and well being.

One thing is absolutely clear the Morricone recordings with Edda can be very, very uplifting.

You don't hold a grudge? what album is that on? Lol

It's nerve-wracking at times but often brilliant music lol.

Just a shame there is still no CD release of the unofficial final installment of this series, Moriconne's "Controfase". It got a trendy vinyl reissue a few years back but of course no CD/digital release.

It's a very important set in understanding the full picture of Morricone's music. The distinctive sound of his scores would not be there without this kind of experimenting with orchestration, voices, instruments etc.

About ATTENTI AL BUFFONE, it was the last score he worked on for Alberto Bevilacqua who was more noted as an author:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberto_Bevilacqua

Important to note that Morricone wrote 2 wonderful scores for his earlier films LA CALIFFA and QUESTA SPECIE D'AMORE. ATTENTI AL BUFFONE is not as satisfying as those scores but it does have some nice pieces for example the 2nd track Larghetto which can be listened to on Youtube.

Regarding OPPOSTE ESPERIENZE, I also hold it as a library music project. If it is a genuine soundtrack, can you tell us from which movie it is supposed to come from?

I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall the titles Attenzione Al buffoon and eye of the cat being mentioned. Excuse an spelling errors.

Just for clarification ...ATTENTI AL BUFFONE = Eye of the Cat

My copy of this arrived today only a week after ordering. Very handsomely designed set and the sound is great. Never really gave the Nicolai music much of a listen in the past so I guess now I have no excuse not to lol. If anyone is on the fence you should really get this before it's gone.

Is that the film with the recurring cat?

Those are two of my favourite Morricone scores. So by having the previously mentiond OSTENSE album -- albeit very different in tone and style than those, and previously believed by me to be a collection of library cues - that's practically the third entry in their collaboration?

I think it translates as Beware of the fool, but Eye of the Cat Italian title isĀ Attenti al buffone. 1975.

I received this box yesterday and I must say that the thick booklet included is very much enlightening about the creative process used in these pieces. The author of the notes Maurizio Corbella indeed reveals page 44 that "although the records featured in DIMENSIONI SONORE are credited to one and the other composer, the fact that each and every one of the 103 tracks in this box set are registered under both names in SIAE (the Italian copyright society) confirms that the bond between the two was solid".
Reading the interviews of Bruno Battisti d'Amario and Giorgio Carnini, it seems likely that Morricone came up with the original modules (the Multipla technique he was fon of in those years) and that Nicolai was then very active in the studio in combining, assembling, fading them away, etc. So it's a process where the conductor had a key role, as it seems.
Anyway, the music encapsultated in this set is absolutely fascinating. A must have.

I just indulged in some unboxing porn.

Will spin after Ms. Birri is finished with the football match.

Now enjoying disc 1. This is incredible. If you love "The Mission" and "Days of Heaven," you will LOVE this!

That's just psychological.
