Finally!

The end cut off, so I could not hear if the arranger replicated Mancini's use of the French horns on the final chord, hitting the 13th and then sliding up an octave.

The arrangement is something of a mess. The intro sounds like one of Lalo Schifrin's middle eastern tracks from the "Mission Impossible" album.

Overall, it has a very 70s vibe, and would not have stylistically fit with the show in 1958, even if Mancini was a time traveler like Alex North was.

Still, thank you for sharing! I hope to one day hear the full coda.

I used the NCH Software free edition and i was not familiar and they said the music was longer than the video so they cut I was about to put the PINK PANTHER track and i could also place the complete PETER GUNN track (2:48) but since you don t like it... its not easy ! Sorry you hate the track. I love this track since 1975 and its the first version i heard !

Never said I "don't like it" or "hate it." Reading comprehension, old sport!

i know i made a mistake but it was too late to correct !
By the way, if you like SCHIFRIN's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE album why don t you like this version ? And sure it would not fit the series because its too old fashion. But if it would have been the original theme i would surely not have the problem to discover it and try to put this track here !

Here is the Lalo Schifrin track that came to mind when I heard the intro:

It's really not a question of "not liking" this version of "Peter Gunn." There are elements I like, and others I don't. I don't like the cheesy keyboard playing the bass riff in the upper register, and the drums are heavy handed.

On the other hand, the brass charts sound very close to Mancini's original original version.

As far as preference, this version sits squarely in the 1970s. While I adore lots of 70s funk from the likes of Schifrin, Q, and others, I also love 1950s crime jazz. For me, it is hard to top Mancini's original for the latter. But there is nothing "wrong" with this version, although the intro does feel pasted on.

I have this album and your right, it does sound the same at the beggining but the rest is not. When i heard the original the first time i thought it was bland, but its good to have both.
