IT's not a bad assumption to make. Here is what we know:
MV has said it takes way way longer to make LP's than CD's.
It costs a lot of money to produce a CD, which is just sitting there waiting to make a profit off of, so it's not like the Cd is being held back for who knows how long.
CD's have to be signed off on in multiple ways, which can take time, even years. There's zero way to time it so the CD comes out right after the LP. It would be PURELY COINCIDENTAL if it happened.
Vinyl is waaaaaaaaaaaay more expensive to produce than a CD. A total waste of money imo. So little profit to be made

One thing that CDs of movie scores have going for them are the booklets/liner notes. If they didn’t, I would probably buy digital - BUT the problem with digital is you can’t always be guaranteed of getting the highest quality, and some digital purchases are tied to certain platforms or have timed DRM rights which can expire.
I still like the physical pressings.

The Matrix demanded a score that was as unique, sophisticated and imaginative as its concept and action—and got one from composer Don Davis. Davis, who scored the Wachowskis’ Bound (1996), reinvented the symphonic language of the action blockbuster by drawing on cutting-edge concert-hall minimalism and his own background as an avant-garde composer, while maintaining the energy, pace and density required of a studio action film.
From the clashing-brass “reflections,” to the racing strings, pounding percussion and flittering, repeating musical “cells,” the Matrix score fits hand-in-glove with the film’s concept of a computer-controlled reality—and offers a unique musical thumbprint that is recognizable sometimes only from a single note or chord. It is the rare commercial triumph that is also an artistic landmark.
The Matrix was released by Varèse Sarabande at the time of the film, and then in a Deluxe Edition that fit as much of the score as possible on one CD. By popular demand, this new 2CD set, (also available for Record Store Day as a 3LP set), presents the complete score. Liner notes feature a new interview with Don Davis conducted by Kaya Savas.

That is some really shitty cover art. Wish all score releases just used the original poster art designed for the films initial release.
