It seems as if Decca is re-issuing Bernard Herrmann's Phase 4 soundtrack recordings for yet another time: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/B-Herrmann/dp/B09242ZMBT/ If only the same care would be applied to his classical recordings. How dumb this is - they should have done this for ALL his Phase 4 recordings, including the classical ones.

The Unicorn disks are also not the easiest to find ("supported" by disk rot and the lack of download versions). I'm not sure, however, if they would still fall into UMG territory.

Yes, some of these recordings have never been on CD at all - and some were mercilessly split through various compilations.

Interesting. Not just the actual phase four recordings but I see OBSESSION also being included because it came out on the Phase 4 label. With the original Phase 4 cover art. Sweet.

Yes, Bruce is right, it is a great pity this is only a box set of Bernard Herrmann's film score recordings, and not a box set of all his Decca Phase-4 recordings, including The Planets, The Impressionists, Four Faces of Jazz, etc. I overlooked that at first. However, for what it is, I do like the look of it. I like it very much. Ref: Dutton-Vocalion, you probably recall they did Great Movie Thrillers doubled with a classic Ernest Gold film themes album. Cheers

All these should be redone for SACD format since the Gerhardt recordings are just remarkeable. The Gerhardt recordings could be done because RCA had the QUAD masters. Herrmann's Phase 4 stuff was never done that way, therefore there's no way for them to do them as SACDS unless it's two track - unless they could get the original multi-track tapes, which is doubtful.
