Last night, Ms. Birri and I watched this film on the Criterion Channel.

The combination of the opening sequence and Shire's intense main title music led to believe that this would be a slasher film in which Talia Shire kills one by one all of her ex-boyfriends.

In this regard, the main title violated truth-in-packaging laws, though the music was still good on its own terms.

Just noticed the other day that Intrada has a copy for sale in their one-of-a-kind section.

I saw this film way back when . . . way back. I believe the film was the directorial debut of Joan Tewkesbury, who got the assignment partially because of her much acclaimed screenplay for Nashville, which, push comes to shove, is my favorite film. I remember liking Shire's music but don't anything about it or the film. Perhaps I should re-visit. Or maybe I'll just watch Nashville again.

Never saw the film, but enjoyed the sound samples enough to buy the CD (released in 2015) which I still enjoy. The first track does have a manic tempo (reminds me of "The Rainstorm" cue in Psycho) so I'm not surprised the movie itself has a slasher vibe at the start.
