Didn't see that one coming. First assignment since MOANA in 2016 for composer Mark Mancina, 64.

Let's see if it materializes.

Clint turns 91 in a month, by the way.

Surprising indeed. I never pictured a Mancina/Eastwood collaboration.

Maybe he thinks he's Henry Mancini.
I've seen the guy talking to a chair onstage!! (and he once talked to the trees) wink

LOL, yes, that may be possible.

Or Mark Mancini:

Well even if Eastwood is not the director of Trouble With The Curve I was really surprised that Beltrami would end up scoring a Clint Eastwood movie but he did so and after that anything`s possible. So I can`t say that I am surprised with the hiring of Mark Mancina.

I don't put much stock in IMDb credits for films that are still in production, basically anybody can edit those. I mean, remember when Harry Gregson-Williams was supposedly scoring Breaking Dawn?

Until I see conformation from a more credible source, I'm just gonna assume this is bullshit

Yes, but Beltrami consistently scores high-profile movies, and has done so throughout his career. Mancina has only rarely "stepped out of the shadows" in the last 20 years, so any new assignement on this level is a surprise. MOANA was also a surprise to me a few years ago.

The film is completed, not in production, according to imdb. But it doesn't premiere until October 21.

Oh, good, not another twinkly piano nothing score from Clint himself this time.

Disappointed it's not Schifrin.

Good for Mancina.

He has successfully escaped the clutches of the Remote Control / Media Ventures Empire, even if it has made his career more difficult.

I’m really curious to see what he comes up with for this kind of film. I suspect Mancina’s guitar-playing will have a key role.

Yes, the guitar will probably shine here. I can see Mancina succeed on this film, when I think about it.

Maybe it will sound like TAKING LIBERTY, scored by Mancina when he was a totally unknown back in 1993, music from 6:23: :-D

Or something like the guitar ambience of AUGUST RUSH with the ethereal edge of TRAINING DAY.

I could see that mix working really well for what this film is supposed to be.

Sometimes you can hear flashes of Remote Control in his action writing (or honestly I think it's the other way around where Zimmer learned from Mancina's SPEED and channeled it into CRIMSON TIDE...)

But when he gets into the more sweeping stuff, even with animation like BROTHER BEAR, you can tell that Mancina really understands the fundamentals of orchestration and instrumentation and has absolutely no hesitation or excuses about scoring for a traditional orchestra and bringing in an experimental edge to keep it fresh.

Yeah..that would have been nice...Schifrin scores an Eastwood movie one last time. And how awesome it must be to still have the power and the passion to write..direct and star in a movie at 91.
Even though I have a feeling this might be his last.
Or....
Maybe he'll return as DIRTY HARRY and Schifrin scores itwink

It looks interesting. From 1:10 on I think he is using Morricone's music. I'm thinking it is from The Mission, but I could be wrong.

Your right but it sounded like an arrangement .
