jack, we’re heading to SC next Thursday and we decided to drive. When I read about SC and VA having these issues I began to worry a bit. I’m wondering if flying would be a better option. But we’re going to keep our original plans and hope we have no issues. Hi, Edwzoomom! That's awesome! Let me be the first to welcome you in advance! I don't know how much my area (Greenville/Spartanburg) represents the state, but it's spotty as to the supply. I drive 17 miles to Spartanburg to work each day and I pass by 15 gas stations. This morning only 5 of those had gas. Three are three mega stations and they all were open, but most all of the smaller places weren't. I understand that the coastal area, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, etc., are in good shape for gas supply. As Bob's post shows, Colonial expects to be back to normal by the middle of next week, so that's encouraging. I hope your trip goes well and you have an awesome time here! Hey jack. Thank you for the update We've prepared ourselves for the possibility of some gas issues once we hit maybe DC or VA but we're staying in Fredericksburg VA overnight so hopefully we won't have a problem. I'm thinking whatever stupid reason created all this will be resolved for the most part. One thing for sure, we're not going to be travelling with gas cans or plastic bags fuel of fuel. We still are choosing driving over flying for COVID reasons. We are staying near Columbia to just get a feel for the area. My husband is an avid fiaherman so wherever we settle will have to meet that requirement. I'm just as happy staying in New England but who knows? Thanks for the update and take care jack.

There was panic buying over here in blighty, first time round. What I noticed was, at first, there wasn't any of it. Then there was a bulletin on the news saying ' no need to panic buy, enough for all'. Then all hell broke loose. All because of stoopid news. So what I did was loaded my trolley with spoons, mouse traps, inflatable swimming pools, haemorrhoid cream. Then walk round the shop and see the faces on other shoppers. 'Does he know something we don't?'

I hope it was of some benefit. The gas situation is better now, so I doubt you'll have any problems. I don't know how familiar y'all are with the area, but my Dad was an avid fisherman and Lake Murray was his favorite for largemouth bass; I think some good crappie fishing is there too. Lake Murray is ~30 minutes away from Columbia. I don't know how it is nowadays, but there once were maximum limits on horsepower, to discourage speedboats, skiers, etc., which made it better suited to a peaceful day of fishing. There are some pretty decent restaurants at the lake as well. I wish you the best in your travels and visit! Hi jack, We just got back from SC. We had a fabulous time. The weather was amazing. We were at about 90 degrees plus all week but the humidity was low. When we arrived home the temp dropped 60 degrees. We think the area we stayed was a bit too rural for us to settle in but the area was lovely. We have family in Aiken now but we don’t want to be that close to either side of the family lol. We are going to continue to look but next time we fly. The drive was brutal. My husband did catch his fill of catfish and we learned there are gators in in SC. We witnessed the logging trucks up close and boy do they rule the road. We also saw so much of the wildlife there. Each night we were serenaded by Pine Barren Tree Frogs and Whippoorwills. I had breakfast each morning with a little Anole who bravely sat next to me and changed from green to brown at will. I saw beetles the size of a small flip flop who sent me running inside. It was a relief to sit and read without a single mosquito or gnat. I’m sitting writing this with 40 degree temps and rain outside. I’m wishing I was back in that 90 degrees watching my little Anole buddy change colors.
