It's about the same as his work for "Star Wars: Rebels". What's really disappointing here, (really annoying in Powell's "Solo" score), is reducing Williams' Star Wars music down to a couple superficial things like triads on woodwinds and horns or triplet flourishes playing the minor 6th-to-fifth-to-tritone as "the Star Wars sound", and then using them EVERYWHERE throughout every song on the score. It's missing the creativity and lyricism of the original Star Wars scores and cheapening the Star Wars sound to an auto-pilot "Prequels" sound that doesn't come anywhere close to the level of depth Williams had with his original music. While I'm not necessarily a fan of Mandalorian's music as music, I appreciate that it went in a new direction that was specific to its aesthetic.

Unfortunately, it's strikingly clear it's done with synths. Sad but true. Most things are missing the creativity and lyricism of the original Star Wars scores. Including the prequel and sequel scores. (I loved Solo.) Bad Batch is far less derivative than Rebels (I adored Rebels) but sounds more like Star Wars than Clone Wars did. IMHO. Omega's theme (at least I assume it's hers) sounds kind of Horner. It's the first Star Wars theme in ages that I just started humming as soon as I heard it.

I like what I’m hearing this for, and yeah: there are several moments where the music is akin to Horner. The one thing that really annoys me, is that the opening for the show is a carbon copy of the opening from Silvestri’s Abyss. Heh. Yes it is. Re: Omega's theme, that Halo clip is striking. But I have a feeling it's far more likely that the springboard to that theme was How to Train Your Dragon 2. But then I don't play video games and maybe Kiner does.

BTW, the score for episodes 1-8 is up on the usual streaming services. Most tracks have about 1,000 plays on Spotify. Omega's theme has 13,000. I can tell already I'm going to play it into the ground. The Bounty Hunter is Back has 10,000. I can see why.
