I have always wondered why an lp of Rozsa's Quo Vadis was never issued on MGM's Silver Screen Soundtrack series alongside Ben-Hur (Both Albums) , El Cid and King of Kings. There was also a compilation album that featured Ivanhoe, Plymouth Adventure and Madame Bovary. There was one track on the More Great MGM Film Themes album - Triumphal March conducted by Rozsa - according to the sleeve.
I think the fact that the original soundtrack album was extremely short combined with the fact that the tapes were destroyed in a fire before the film’s release might have something to do with it, but this is purely guesswork on my part.
Thanks - very ironic the tapes were destroyed in a fire. The Rozsa conducted Decca and Nic Raine recording are both excellent The Prague Philharmonic seems to have perfected the 'Rozsa' sound. Regards CC
