Well, I doubt the studios are lowering their prices for access to their stuff. And it has been roughly $20 for a (single) disc since for over 20 years now. If you want them to stay in business and keep releasing new stuff... I wonder what would be too much so that people would push back? $5 extra for a single disc? $10 for a double-disc? This is the reality of what is essentially a dwindling business model. Physical CD production is already ending, so now you're talking soundtrack CDs which is an niche within a niche. Do you want to LLL to stay in business? If yes, then deal with higher prices. If no, then find a cheaper hobby. You going to be okay? I'm fine, it was your complaint about the price, not mine. Listen to your Goldsmith box and maybe count to 10?

I really hope this reissue will allow me to find some new appreciation for this score. So far it’s an ultra-rare JW offering where, apart from some clearly wonderful highlights, I haven’t found it to be a score I want to listen to very often. Fingers crossed… Mine are also crossed. I've had a few of those over time. With the last few years of these Williams upgrades, I now have less of them. I hope that bears out for you.

Wow. This went nowhere? I got my CD yesterday. I love it. I never had put the CD into chronological order before. It makes a very different listening experience. The liner notes are top notch, the score sounds terrific, and the extras are very nice to have (especially the end credits). Highly recommended.

Never saw the film till last week, but was hugely inspired to after hearing Mike Matessino recent interview. I liked the film and appreciate the music more now. Didn't grab me before after having the album for many years. All in good time. Thanks y'all! I wanna make a sound bite out of Holly Hunter's "Don't touch!" line when given the "Girl Clothes". Very cute!

Mine arrived a couple of hours ago. I'm listening now. Such a great improvement over the MCA release. Thank you to those who made this happen! (Edited upon revisiting the MCA CD. The La-La Land CD is much better, but I was bashing the MCA disc a little too harshly.)

Deleted, because I failed to read the liner notes before asking the question and now I feel stupid.

I'm back with my question since I found that what I was looking for during "The Rescue Operation" in the film wasn't tracked from what's included in track 13 "Among the Clouds." This is the best I've been able to match up what I'm questioning: Blu-ray: 01:42:00 - 01:42:50 Dorinda rides her bicycle into the base and peers into the window of the operations shack. LLL CD: 12 / 02:04 - 02:55 Blu-ray: 01:43:53 - 01:44:18 Dorinda jumps in the pilot seat of Ted’s airplane, sets up the cockpit and begins to taxi. LLL CD: 12 / 04:02 - ~04:28 In the film presentation from the Blu-ray the accompanying repeating bass note in the above is very strong and often sounds to me like it might be a plucked string on a double bass. On the CD presentation this repeating note often seems much weaker, sounding more like a lightly strummed string on a different instrument. I'm particularly noticing this in the first part of the first example above, and throughout the second example. Is the CD version possibly a different take, or is there just that much difference in how it was mixed for the CD vs. the film? Maybe it's an LFE sweetener added for the film version?

Also I haven't found any technical info on the recording such as tape size, number of tracks, analog/digital, etc. I'm always interested in how it was recorded in the studio and what elements were used to source the version I'm listening to. All that I'm finding is in the description on La-La Land's site, "Produced and mastered from studio vault elements by Mike Matessino,..." Studio vault elements could be anything.

Thanks. That’s what I needed to know.I can’t wait for my order to ship. I edited my remarks above after revisiting the MCA disc. The audio quality on the La-La Land release does seem improved over the MCA CD, but I did find that the deeper bass wasn't as absent on the MCA disc as I was claiming.
