Read my new interview with composer Jeff Grace on reteaming with filmmaker Jim Mickle (Stake Land, Cold Day in July) for a fawn boy's apocalyptic fairy tale trek for Netflix's SWEET TOOTH! Watch this excellent new, critically acclaimed series of whimsy and danger now, and be sure to get Jeff's score on WaterTower Music June 25th
Watched the first episode of this last night and love what I've seen/heard so far. Mickle and Grace are one of the best truly under the radar director-composer tandems working right now. It's great to see Grace get a chance to play around in this milieu. The show has been compared to the Amblin era and that's actually true here so far; it's not afraid to lean into the darker and more melancholic aspects of the story while still retaining a childlike sense of hope and adventure. Mickle has struck a really gorgeous tone that I hope continues through the season.
