Love the grindhouse aesthetic - wouldn't have thought of that, perfect.

I totally missed that Yoko Kanno is scoring this. That's awesome. But I agree with you completely about the teaser, steffromuk. They certainly seem to be trying to go for the tone of the show, but this teaser confirms every possible fear concerning how poorly it might translate to live-action. Hokey. Awkward. Clumsy comedic timing and painful attempts at embodying the personality of a cartoon. In hindsight, maybe they shouldn't have tried to emulate the show's tone. According to AV Club, that teaser is a specially shot, unique footage video and doesn't contain any footage from the TV show itself (that trailer comes out next week). Hopefully what they actually shot is stronger.

I've spoken to graphic novel / BD artists who allowed their work to be turned into movies only to earn a living, but absolutely HATED the idea of it and think it completely ruins the integrity of the creative energy that went into creating the original work. This looks really terrible and the characters look absolutely idiotic. I think it's sad that people don't seem to share a collective desire to preserve the integrity of creative works.

I don't know how things will take place, but right now, before the series is not released, I'm almost 100 % sure, that the only thing I'll truly like from this adaptation is the music. But in any case, I must thank the Netflix, that they invite Yoko Kanno in this project, which means (at least for me) they care about this adaptation.
