I was idly looking up the values of some of my favorite discs today and learned that some CDs I bought after streaming/downloads had become collectibles:

Avengers: Age of Ultron - $40+
Fable III - $40+
Kingdoms of Amalur - $40+
Kubo and the Two Strings - $30+
Kung-Fu Panda 2 - $45+
Little Prince 2016 - $30+
John Carter of Mars - $50+
Shazam - $40+
Tomorrowland - $120+ (!)
Tree of Life - $70+

What other non-limited releases from the mid 2000s on do you have that have shot up in value due to selling so few CD copies?

I went looking for BRIDGE OF SPIES the other day and I'm looking at £35 minimum.

Was Tomorrowland at standard release like the others that you have listed?

Frankly, you should consider all score albums as LEs from now one. It came to me as a nasty shock that Passengers, Shazam, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, the Book Thief and Creed have all gone OOP. In fact I have been rushing around to get them at decent prices.

The Imitation Game, which I actually bought before it went OOP now commands high prices.

Avengers: Age of Ultron - $40+

This one was kinda irritating to me when I discovered what it was going for a few months back. I'm not a big fan of the movie, I'm not a big fan of superhero stuff, and I don't think it's a particularly interesting score by Elfman & Tyler. HOWEVER.....I AM an Elfman completist, so I would need to have it on CD. I didn't buy it when it was new and fresh and reasonably priced, and now I'm regretting it, because it's way out of my price league. That, and a whole bunch of other new Elfmans I've been struggling to find cheaply. But this one is the most expensive, for whatever reason (bizarre, because it's such a big title).

Two come to mind

Michael Giacchino's John Carter and Trevor Jone's League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (I think the second one only had a physical release overseas)

Was Tomorrowland at standard release like the others that you have listed?

Yes. I'm pretty sure I got mine from SAE when the movie came out.

Was Tomorrowland at standard release like the others that you have listed?

Absolutely. Bought it off Amazon as a standard Prime item for $13.98 in June 2015, alongside Inside Out, Age of Ultron, Pas de Deux, and Goldenthal's Symphony in G# Minor.

Agreed. But for a long time, especially in the early 2010s, this wasn't clear (at least not to me!) so I slept on a lot of "regular" releases and found the ones I did get skyrocketing.

Yes, lots of these are increasing in value. It just means you have to look a little harder to find a decent price.

Thor is $16 on discogs.

Tree of Life is $34 on discogs. (Expensive, but cheaper than the $70 someone else mentioned.)

Kung Fu Panda 2 is on ebay for $8.99

Etc.

Not sure I'd want that janky ex-library Panda 2 copy in my collection wink

Granted you can always shop around, but some stuff is still legit expensive regardless. The only copy of Tomorrowland I've ever seen for less that $100 is my own!

The problem is that nowadays almost every CD is kind of a limited edition in the sense that labels seems to press less and less copies. I used to buy decades old CDs in online stores for normal price a couple of years ago but now sometimes it's hard to find CDs released only one or two years ago. They are either out of print or very expensive.

Just yesterday I was looking for Philipp Noll's score for the German movie "Traumfabrik" released 1 and 1/2 year ago and it seems to be completely out of print and not available on CD any more.

The Predator Henry Jackson goes for a lot. One copy on Discogs for $139 another on Amazon going for $149. Glad I got mine when I did.

Sorry, re: Tomorrowland I meant was it an LE not an OST album? It disappeared (or pulled) so quickly, and it is not available on Spotify either. A rather curious release.

First, I wonder if anyone is actually paying the prices that these sellers are asking.

Second, I'm slowly giving up on worrying about all of the discs I don't have, as I realize I can barely listen to all of the ones I do.

What gets me is that 'John Carter' is available to stream but not to download, even on a site like Qobuz.
