Ms. Birri and I watched Elio Petri's absurdist Italian comedy exploring concepts of wealth, property ownership, and power.

The score is by Morricone. In parts, it sounded like "Fear Over the City," but it was really its own thing.

I would buy this score were it more readily available.

Hilarious film with a great and eccentric performance by Flavio Bucci as the bank clerk allergic to the folding stuff. I first heard the theme on I Film Della Violenza in the mid-70s. Why this 2-LP set hasn’t made it to CD remains a mystery of our times.

from 30 Apr 14: Aha! After literally some searching, I found that MSV's magnificent Morricone discography - you know, the hardback ring binder one - gives various alternate titles to Storie di Vita e Malavita including (drum roll) Story of Love and the Underworld.

Vindication, like ginger sponge and custard, has a swe-e-e-e-e-t taste!

(For the record, I first encountered the main theme on the glorious 2-disc LP "I Film Della Violenza", and it also appears on the CD of "Endless Game". Why "Violenza" hasn't ever been released on CD is a perplexing mystery, right up there with grapefruit & kiwi washing up liquid and the continuing popularity of Eamonn Holmes.)

I'll say this, Chris, you're nothing if not persistent! smile

My posting 31 Mar 16:
...
This week I discovered "La Proprietà Non E' Più Un Furto" - anyone know this ?
What a weird but wonderful score !...

I recall discussing this title, amongst a few others, with one of my wife's Italian cousins a few years ago during a visit ... I was proudly demonstrating my collection of Maestro Morricone titles on Soundtrackcollector.com ...

... to which he replied (in his broken English, significantly better than my few words of Italian!): that's the type of film even most Italians don't know!

Certainly a weird score but not the weirdest from this legend!

Perhaps this film has more of a following outside of Italy! smile
