I remember going to Montreal to get my ticket, but that's all i remember !

Morricone in Montreal :

Mark your calendars for October
1, 1999, when Ennio Morricone
will conduct a concert of his work
at La Place des Arts (Salle
“Wilfrid-Pelletier”) in Montréal,
Canada. Morricone will write a
special piece for the concert.

Montreal / Morricone :

Many months ago we announced
that Ennio Morricone would be
performing in concert in Montreal
in the fall of 1999. We were never
able to provide further details—
because the concert never happened.

Well , it is the curse of Montreal, Goldsmith was going to come but the public was not at the rendezvous, Morricone was supposed to come but we waited for him in vain.

The number of people interested in film music in Montreal could hold a meeting in a phone booth (although there aren't too many of those around these days).

Morricone surely would have been sold out. However I have no memory at all of this being promoted back in 1999. I doubt tickets were ever sold. In the end I saw him for the first time in London in 2016, as all previous concerts were cancelled.

I am planning on being in Montreal in a couple weeks for a day - really hoping to get back into L'Echange to see if I can find anything cool, and eat at a few good vegan restaurants.

Please tell me which day. I'll make sure I scoop up all the goodies before you get here. Nah! Kidding!

I live within a few kilometers of the place and I can no longer be arsed to go there (I had a good run over the decades). Good hunting. smile

Thanks! Will report back mid-July if I find anything. I'm also planning on being in Quebec City for a day - haven't been there since the mid 90's - you happen to know any spots worth checking out for CDs?

Concert not existing? I was reading local concert news very regularly back in 1999. I would have noticed if he was on the programme from La Place des Arts. I remember Philip Glass and Joao Gilberto a year later, but certainly not Ennio Morricone.

Selling well? In the 90s Morricone was part of the local pop culture and even a clear influence for the local art scene.

I believe this guy also sells on eBay. I'll have to check, but if it is the case, the Fanderson CDs I purchased from him were in perfect condition, reasonably priced, and expertly shipped.

And somehow, a wanker manages to make it about something else than Montreal. Nice going "nyukelhead".
