Every time I think of Henry Miller, I think of TROPIC OF CANCER and that bit from the SEINFELD episode "The Library" where he's forgotten to return a copy of the book.
I've got this, but don't ask me what it is. I'm hopeless at naming cues when heard out of context -- I'm one hundred per cent sure it's Morricone, though.
Ha!! Ive got this too! And its a score ive listened to recently. Buggered if i can remember what tho.
Thats the trouble when your genius maestro has written 487 top notch scores. If it was a puny 150 scores i could tell you the name and time of every cue lol.
It's the track "Falsa amicizia" from LA FAILLE (1975). The score also contains some really beautiful versions of this track where the mandocello (or mandola) performs the melody. Actually this melody first appeared in the soundtrack to MILANO ODIA: LA POLIZIA NON PUO SPARARE which came out one year earlier.
I knew I had listened to it before but wasn't able to find it - there is so much.
"Falsa amicizia" is not on youtube, but you have this, "Radio e TV":
"I Contri Ora Tornano" from "Milano odia..." was the track I've known for decades now (not on yt either).
This particular version of Falsa Amicizia (strangely titled 'Radio e TV' on the Hexacord CD release from 2000) is absolutely wonderful, especially the 2nd part where the Mandocello takes over the melody while the strings play another melody in counterpoint...goosebumps!
Ahhh how about that Les????!!! It was La Faille. What are we like???? Its ok, private joke between us. (We both listened to this score in the last 3 weeks!!)
La Faille, as you say aka Der dritte Grad, but also known as The weak spot.
How about that, Bill? As you say, we've both listened to this in the last few weeks. I almost said, it's not long ago since I listened to this, but I thought my ageing memory was playing tricks.
