I guess JAWS must be the one movie poster,that made the most impact on me when I was little. There are others as well , but I think this one is one of the most iconic and in terms of movie hype the most succesful cover art. And now to my "why" in my post title....:
Is there a reason why another great poster artwork for a franchise never got used for the soundtracks??? And that's the first original STAR WARS Posters?
It would be interesting to determine ratio of film score LPs that used poster art vs. those which did not. It was fairly common for LPs to use different imagery. That said, the "Star Wars" cover was pretty boring, wasn't it? White letters on black background?

Actually it was - Tom Jung's was on Arista's 1993 box set of the Star Wars Trilogy.

I actually loved the Star Wars cover. Creative logo design on a glossy black background. Simplicity and elegance. It helped my imagination run free hearing the music without having any visual clues on the album cover. Of course in reality I think Lucas or FOX simply didn't have the time or money to create actual poster art for its initial release. Still works for me.

I would say the Jaws poster art is the most iconic image in pop culture.
Hi LAST CHILD...yes you are absolutely right...me myself and I don't even know what I was "asking" or posting about..I guess I was thinking about the JAWS cover which had such a big impact on me and I guess on the whole moivieindustry..then I thought ..hey ...why are there not STARWARS covers based on the awesome poster artwork. I still like the black and white Logo though...was just thinking. Nevertheless..YES talking about THUNDERBALL etc.all of MC GINNIS Covers are great.He is my all time favorite illustrator.There are a couple others as well which are just fantastic but McGinnis had the gift of not only being a great draftsman but also a great designer in terms of compositing an illustration.
But to have a better kind of structure for the post:

Of the Bonds, Goldfinger in particular. The zeitgeist was working with the combination of the movie, the song, the scores, and that cover, with the big golden letters and the golden girl.
