A few years ago I downloaded some file from Amazon Music which was labelled as "The Mancini Interview." It was supposedly originally uploaded there in 2011.
Some guy with an English accent was talking to Mancini for about an hour, and the thing was bookended with some Mancini musical excerpts like Moon River and Peter Gunn (not edited very well).
I just ran across this interview on my hard drive and wonder if anyone knows who is the interviewer?
which no longer works, at least from the main level at Amazon.
The sound on this interview was mediocre, as if the interviewer's tape recorder was not set up properly. I have put a brief excerpt from the interview here:
Sorry - I'm unable to identify of the British interviewer.
If Mancini is referring to Nelson Riddle in the past tense, then this recording likely occurred between 1986 (Riddle passed away in 1985) and 1993(/'94).
Do any of us FSMers know if Mancini travelled to England during his final 8 years? ... or perhaps the interview was recorded in CA whilst the Britisher visited the U.S.?
In the interview, most of which I haven't listened to, there is a reference to Mancini's recording of "On The Turning Away" by Pink Floyd [sic] with the Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra -- "Mancini Rocks the Pops" -- on Denon, which dates from 1989.

The album is copyrighted 1989, but the actual London recording sessions were done in June of 1988.
