I thought I read somewhere that Dune is in two parts, but it doesn't look like it, & it's quite long, two & a half hours (& a big old budget $165,000,000 estimated). I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I'm not sure if it'll be at the cinema or a Blu-ray.

I'm not sure about Ridley Scott's, The Last Duel. Set in 14th century France, good, lots of fighting, good. But, it's been awhile since I liked any film that Scott has made, & the look of the trailer is awful, desaturated gunge-o-vision (did colour not exist in those days?).

That poster for "Dune" looks like "Twilight" crossed with every other bland color-washed serio-turd that has come before. No clips to give more judgement by, but based on that, the director, and Zimmer as composer, I think it may be a good guess that it doesn't take a genius to know what this film will come out as...

Last thing by him I enjoyed was White Squall. That was, what, 1997?

WES ANDERSON---Adrien Brody will co-star with Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton in the untitled movie.

Incidentally, this news applies to the next five films Anderson will make.

Give me Lynch's baroque, introverted Dune, warts and all, any time of the day.

So placing type over the actors faces is some kind of new graphic design styling?
Imagine Raider of the Lost Ark poster with Harrison Fords name splattered across his face.
Would've made it KoOler!

That Oscar Isaac poster looks like an ad for beard oil in a Cosmo magazine.
What demographic are the filmmakers going after?

(I will say that's a cute use of a horseshoe as a font, though.)

The usual I would think: bored teenagers and action spectacle junkies.

I'm not much of a fan of Villeneuve , and for me Dune isn't looking very good so far. Not that I'm a huge fan of the book I I tried reading in high school in 1980 but could never finish it.

But no matter what, nothing will EVER , EVER make Lynch's Dune look good by comparison .Seriously, it's one of , if not the, worst things I ever paid to see, and I saw it in a second run $1 theater. roll eyes

Sign me up for this list. It’s a mess but it’s MY mess.

I started reading Dune in the early seventies (all my friends were reading it), but I just couldn't get into it (a shame, as I missed out on all those sequels). I couldn't get on with the Lynch film, & by the time I'm able to buy the Blu-ray of this new film, the reviews & box office will be old news (it does seem daft to pre-judge it by a set of film posters). Whatever, I hope I'm still going to buy it, a $165,000,000 film should have some things going for it (you never know, I think The Lone Ranger is a great western, whereas John Carter is just pants).

After BR2049, at best I'd have zero expectations.
