"Space Murder" is probably one of my top-ten favorite Bernstein cues of all-time.
In the finished film, they mixed out all the disco music and the female vocal motif that he would later go on to use in "Heavy Metal"

Here is the opening sequence (Space Murder) as it was originally written and spotted. This is one funky space murder now!

Very nice, Mr. Mutant. Awesome, in fact. Elmer's great cue finally does what it was intended to do, and does so magnificently.

Now, if you can find a way to remove that wanker, Commissioner Simmonds, from the film and put Keitel back in, I'd say you'd be eligible for an Academy Award smile

WOW! Thank you for doing this, I have always wanted to see this wonderful score restored in the film. Fantastic work! If you decide to do more of this film at some point, I would love to see another scene where Bernstein used what would later become "Taarna's Theme."

Honestly?

The film edit is a jumble, granted, but at least carries an aura of menace throughout. The last thing I would expect to hear after seeing some guy space filleted is ethereal, fairy-tale music.

Thanks for the demonstration.

So many different styles here: Straussian fanfares, chuka-chuka pop, and Elmer in is "innocent" mode. Wouldn't this confuse the audience?

Is that the actual dialogue heard in the movie? It sounds like teenagers recording in their basement.

Ah the industrial strength schlock of Saturn 3. Thanks for doing that. It brings back memories of being 9 years old again.

Brilliant job as always 'Mutant'. Fascinating to see the original idea. I'm not sure if it works though as the 'ethereal' music is a strange mood change after the 'murder'. Might be just though as this is now always going to be 'Heavy Metal' for me. What do you think yourself? Great job though!
