Were there ever any releases (or plans to) for expanded editions of "Metropolis" and/or "Cat People"?

I think there are no plans to release expanded versions of these soundtracks, although a bootleg CD with all the Moroder music for Metropolis was released a long time ago, excluding the songs, but I don't think this will happen...

That's a damn shame.
I have a real appreciation for those scores--cheesy though they may be.
In the case of "Cat People", perhaps there is simply not that much more addition music to even merit an expansion.

Oh well.
But if there is one thing we score fans have learned, it's to never say never.
The industry folks have gotten soooo good as playing their cards close to their chest!

I have fond memories of running a cassette copy of "Metropolis" off of the VHS I recorded from TV way back when.
It was GREAT to listen to in the car.

Would still love a release of Moroder's music from the 1994 first season of Fantastic Four.

How does that music sound? 80s pop style or more 90s "symphonic synths"?

The actual soundtrack albuns are perfectly fine. No need to expand at all.

I'm not so sure about that, though.
The "Metropolis" album has the pop songs and relatively little of Moroder by himself.
The pop songs themselves are nice, by and large, but I really dislike the album arrangement of "Here's My Heart".
The version at the end of the film still gives me goosebumps. LOL

"Cat People" makes the transition to album really well, by contrast.
I just wish there were more of it--but maybe there's not much more to be had.
It's been ages since I last saw it so I can't say for sure.
I find it's sinewy and sensuous at the same time.

The Metropolis album has got only one track of score, so surely there must be more score in the film that could be featured on an album.

No. That's enough.

It's 90s symphonic synth I'd say, and very well done - some memorable themes. The theme song is also quite good and I think he did a great job on the lyrics:

"Call For Four" by Giorgio Moroder.

End credits is much clearer.

I recently watched 'Cat People'. The score in the film sounds cool! Levay's style of music is well felt. The original soundtrack is good, but theexpande / complete score - it would be just great! There is a lot of interesting material in the film, which is missing from the album.
