I put off watching for a long time and finally yesterday I watched this funny movie, which surprisingly I really liked. The musical score was composed by Sylvester Levay. Probably on the synclavier ...
The music turned out to be quite powerful, although didn't have enough melody. But perhaps Levay did as director Wilson demanded. A film that lasts a little over 100 minutes has about 30 minutes of original music.

In any case, I really liked the score and would like to see the official release. Sylvester Levay in the prime of his creative potential! big grin

This and Courage Mountain is the two scores by him that I would not mind if someone would release someday.

Tobias,
As far as I remember the second score is completely orchestral?

I write a bit about both BURGLAR and COURAGE MOUNTAIN here:

Oh, now I remember where I read about Burglar's score! Thank you!

First Breath, I understand that you didn't like the score very much? Am I wrong?

I haven't seen the film since the early 90s, but like you, I found the score to be too unmelodic, with lots of rocking drum machines. A pity no score is on the album, though.

Or a blessing?

No. Even weak Levay is fun Levay.

Speaking of Levay, when I first came across your interview with him, I thought to myself: The interviewer definitely really likes Levay's musical scores. So I'm curious to know what is your favorite Levay score? And what soundtrack would you most like to see oficial released?

Very difficult questions, but I would really loved to see releases of WEREWOLF, THE ABDUCTION OF KARI SWENSON or THE OWL.

NAVY SEALS is among my favorites by him, of course helped by the fact that the score is on CD.

Check out the 7 minute opening of this

Very beautiful theme!

Perhaps I understand why "difficult" ... Sylvester Levay was not one of those composers who wrote good 2-3 scores and that's it all. He really created quality music and fully revealed his strengths and skills. Levay's had his own distinctive and original style.

‘The Owl' is also good.

Just checked out one of the 'Werewolf' episodes - great themes with pulsating synths.

When I first watched the movie, I somehow didn't pay attention to this wonderful cue, which lasts only a minute (starts at 1:23:56):

Nice keyboards.

I just got an e-mail from Levay, he asked if I had any audio from TIME BOMB...

I guess he doesn't have any music from it in his own archives.
