It occurred to me on the occasions of the occasional recurrence of queries about what scores we would like to see expanded that Hans Zimmer's The Last Samurai would be a great candidate. Complete and in chrono... I wonder how doable such a project would be since it is Zimmer rather than a more obscure composer.
This is the rare Hans Zimmer expansion I would probably buy. I mean, Horner might have done an even better job if he'd stuck with Zwick, but I still really like this!
I really like it too! I think it was MV who mentioned that Zimmer doesn’t want this to be expanded because he thinks the OST is the best presentation of the score or something along those lines. So unless he changes his mind don’t get you hopes up… But to be honest, the OST does flow really well.

We do have some Zimmer projects planned for 2014. I can tell you this -- it won't be any of his Batman scores or the Last Samurai though. Mr Zimmer is very happy with the current albums that are available and feels they do not need to be expanded in any way at this time.
His quote, which sure, if hes happy, hes happy - but I'm forever left confused why Dark Knight got that big two disc box set and Dark Knight Rises didn't get anything like that. I much prefer that one.

The quieter material is quite good. The action fare I do think Horner would have done a bit better on. I’d be up for an expanded release however.
Not high on my list of Zimmer expansions. There are many other I would like to see expanded first. The film is an embarrassment. He ripped off so much of his previous film Glory.
