I'd almost given up on this guy

http://filmmusicreporter.com/2021/09/16/black-box-boite-noire-soundtrack-released/#more-82164

He seemed to have dropped off the radar and his last few scores have been infected, somewhat, by the current Drone Zone method.
This might be more of the same?
His earlier scores were magnificent.

It's fine and dandy to be an artist, but he also has to pay bills.

Oh yes, I totally get that they have to give the producers what they want, otherwise they're out of a job.
It's just a shame that this current 'ambient/no-theme/drone' malaise is such a stayer in the film music field.
But who knows...this might sound like Goldsmith's CASSANDRA CROSSING wink

Okay...it DOESN'T sound like THE CASSANDRA CROSSING!! eek
It actually reminds me, at times, of SALT and other modern scores by James Newton Howard (SIGNS).
Not the action licks, but that constant throbbing/ticking effect, with the synths and percussion and heavy reverb.
Also some late years Goldsmith styled suspense and a bit from Williams' WAR OF THE WORLDS.
It's VERY modern sounding, so fans of his big, flowery, thematic scores of yore will be disappointed.
There's an incessant/repeating two-note motif that dominates almost every track.

With his past few years' efforts, he has most certainly transitioned into the modern score vernacular.
It's interesting...ish...but not something I'm gonna return to that much.
Any thoughts?

P.S. I also didn't know Yavar had started acting in French films!! wink

Although these two tracks, at the end, finish the album strongly...
