The Magnificent Seven
The Big Country
Hallelujah Trail
Lonesome Dove
Quigley Down Under
Take A Hard Ride
Dances With Wolves
How The West Was Won
Lonely Are The Brave
Rio Conchos
(I’m sneaking in other favorites like Ride The High Country, One Little Indian, The Good the Bad the Ugly
and Giant which I consider a modern western.)

7. Mario Migliardi's Matalo!

As if on cue, one of my "Top"s is being re-issued on Beat Records. https://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/43394/MATALO!/

Albert Glasser's THE CISCO KID available from Kritzerland.
There was 1 track of this on an old Starlog LP, THE FANTASTIC FILM MUSIC OF ALBERT GLASSER, and it stuck with me all these years until a whole CD came out.
It's only one title but the rest of you have done a pretty good job listing stand-outs.

Thank you for recognizing my friend, Al Glasser and his score. He also orchestrated and conducted THE RETURN OF JESSE JAMES by Ferde Grofe. It's a virtually unrecognized work, and is quite good.

OLD GRINGO by Lee Holdridge, a grand epic score.

I just got around to ripping and listening to the rerecording of The Alamo recently.

I was afraid this score would wear out it's welcome early, but's one of the breeziest listens of any Western for me.

I like the themes in Duel In The Sun, but I know I'll be revisiting this one far more often now.

Tiomkin's greatness was in his western movie scores plus a few others like LOST HORIZON and THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.
