MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

FINCH---trailer released for the Apple TV+ sci fi movie starring Tom Hanks.

HALLOWEEN KILLS---new trailer released for the sequel.

OBI-WAN KENOBI---Ewan McGregor said the Disney+ prequel miniseries has finished filming, “We finished shooting our series, and it was really, really good fun — I really enjoyed working with Deborah Chow. I think it will not disappoint. I think it’s gonna be good. I had a really good time making it, and worked with some really wonderful people, lovely people. The new technology we employed doing it is cool, and it was a different experience than making the original three films that I did.”
Hayden Christensen and Joel Edgerton also star.

THE BATMAN---Matt Reeves posted a photo with a glimpse of Robert Pattinson as Batman.

THE FLASH---Andy Muschietti posted a photo of what appears to be Michael Keaton's original Batman suit painted like the The Flash's suit.

BANSHEE---Antonio Banderas, Jaime King and Tommy Flanagan will star in this movie about a female mercenary who is targeted by an assassin who killed her father and now seeks to kill her mentor.

THE LOST BOYS---Noah Jupe (A QUIET PLACE) and Jaeden Martell (IT) will star in the remake of the 1987 vampire movie that starred Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland.

RIFT---US remake underway of the Icelandic horror movie about two friends who are haunted by an evil entity.

LAST LIGHT---Matthew Fox will star in this Peacock miniseries about a petrochemical engineer and his family in the Middle East where he discovers the world's oil supply has been compromised.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
THE PINK PANTHER STRIKES AGAIN was a spoof of James Bond movies in which former Chief Inspector Dreyfus is the villain. Writer/director Blake Edwards tried unsuccessfully to get Sean Connery or Roger Moore to play a British spy assigned to assassinate Chief Inspector Clouseau, so Edwards got Omar Sharif to play an Egyptian spy assigned to assassinate Clouseau. Ironically, Lom co-starred with Sean Connery in THE FRIGHTENED CITY, and Lom appeared with Roger Moore in CURSE OF THE PINK PANTHER.
Lom and Bond movie producer Cubby Broccoli were good friends and they talked about Lom being a Bond villain, but unfortunately, it never came to be.

Mr. Lom would have made a GREAT Bond villain. Fine menace, and a discerning contempt.

Finch looks good, different. A little depressing because some of that future is coming to us even without a solar flare, but entertaining. I noticed however the trailer utilizes a few shots multiple times, which is not entirely professional level trailer work, imo.

Guess he's talking about the hi-def back screening used on the Mando series. That was pretty cool, at least the actors can act and react to their virtual surroundings instead of just a blank green screen.

By far the funniest most outrageous Pink Panther film of them all. I laughed so hard so long so many times at this movie!!

TOMINATL:

Housekeeper: "You've ruined that piano!"

Inspector Clouseau: "What is the price of one piano compared to the terrible crime that's been committed here?"

Housekeeper: "But that's a priceless Steinway!"

Inspector Clouseau: "Not anymore."

Thanks, Dragon53! You and TominAtl are both right about TPPSA. Definitely in my Top 5 funniest films of all time. And a source of great quotes.

I regularly use the "Not anymore" with my pseudo Clouseau voice in reply when someone says something along the lines of "That used to be...". And of course, if I trip or stumble or run into something while walking, I'll copy Clouseau when he vaulted from the parallel bars down the stairs, "Hah! That felt good!"

When my doggie greets me home, I'll often copy Kato with "Who are YOU?!? What have you done with Inspector Clouseau?!?"

smile

I definitely agree with Warlok about Herbert Lom being a great Bond villain. While he wasn't physically intimidating, he had that bass voice and that certain gleam in his eyes. I'd love to have seen him as Blofeld in OHMSS instead of Savalas.

OMG I've done all of the above and more!!

One phrase in particular, when I'm made aware of something that should have been painfully obvious, in my Clouseau voice, "Yes, yes, I know that, I know that!"

That is probably it. The funny thing is that this is really just a step up from what Kubrick did in 2001, all those ape scenes were actors in a studio with a front projection of large format photographs behind them, and pretty much everyone was and still is completely fooled.

Ha! I was fooled. I never knew that. Always cool to learn how things are filmed. Guess I just never thought about how it was done before.

Not to drag this out, but I often use this on my boss when she assigns me a new project: "No, of course it won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. That is why I have always failed where others have succeeded". Usually good for an eye-roll.
