TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21

THE TRAGEDY OF MACBETH---trailer released for the movie starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM3hsVrBMA4

STAR WARS---Marcia Lucas, Academy Award-winning editor of the first three STAR WARS movies and the ex-wife of George Lucas, commented on the current state of the STAR WARS franchise, “I like Kathleen [Kennedy]. I always liked her. She was full of beans. She was really smart and really bright. Really wonderful woman. And I liked her husband, Frank [Marshall]. I liked them a lot.
Now that she’s running Lucasfilm and making movies, it seems to me that Kathy Kennedy and J.J. Abrams don’t have a clue about STAR WARS. They don’t get it.
And J.J. Abrams is writing these stories – when I saw that movie where they kill Han Solo, I was furious. I was furious when they killed Han Solo. Absolutely, positively there was no rhyme or reason to it. I thought, ‘You don’t get the Jedi story. You don’t get the magic of ‘Star Wars’. You’re getting rid of Han Solo?'”
They have Luke disintegrate. They killed Han Solo. They killed Luke Skywalker. And they don’t have Princess Leia anymore. And they’re spitting out movies every year.
And they think it’s important to appeal to a woman’s audience, so now their main character is this female, who’s supposed to have Jedi powers, but we don’t know how she got Jedi powers, or who she is. It sucks. The storylines are terrible. Just terrible. Awful. You can quote me…J.J. Abrams, Kathy Kennedy – talk to me.'”

QUANTUM LEAP---Scott Bakula said, "very significant conversations" are underway for a reboot or revival of his tv series. He added, “I don’t know what it would be. I don’t know who would have it. The rights were a mess for years. I don’t know if they’re even sorted out now. That’s always been the biggest complication.” The original series ran on NBC from 1989-1993.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME---Topher Grace gave a tongue-in-cheek comment about him returning as Venom in NO WAY HOME, "Please keep it between us but yes, I am in it. The plot starts with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) bummed that everyone knows his identity and then some crazy sh*t happens with Dr. Strange and Dr. Octopus (Alfred Molina) comes into his dimension. Then Electro and the Green Goblin hop out of one of those 'energy circles' and they’re like 'It’s spider stompin time'. Then Tom Hardy and I pop out and battle each other and I win (obvi), it’s like not even a fight I just kick his ass immediately. Not to give too much away but there are also some actors from the original 70s Spiderman show, Aquaman and Batman (Affleck, not Keaton) crossover, and thanks to Disney Han Solo’s ghost from Rise of Skywalker, and that Eve robot from Wall-E. Again, please keep between us."

BACKLIGHT---Liam Neeson stars in this movie as a mercenary hired by the FBI to gets its undercover agents out of trouble and discovers a vast conspiracy.

THE WHEEL OF TIME---Donal Finn will replace Barney Harris as Mat Cauthon. No reason was given for the change.

NETFLIX---Netflix cancelled HIT & RUN because it was too expensive and renewed MY UNORTHODOX LIFE for Season 2.

THREE WOMEN---Betty Gilpin, Shailene Woodley and DeWanda Wise star in this Showtime series based on the book.

TRIVIA---character actor Ed Lauter played a cavalry officer in two Charles Bronson Western movies: BREAKHEART PASS and THE WHITE BUFFALO. In BREAKHEART PASS, Lauter played Major Claremont. In THE WHITE BUFFALO, Lauter played Captain Tom Custer, the younger brother of Lieutenant George Armstrong Custer.

In BREAKHEART PASS, Ed Lauter played Major Claremont with Richard Crenna and Jill Ireland, Charles Bronson's wife.

In THE WHITE BUFFALO, Lauter played Captain Tom Custer, the younger brother of Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer.

I'm for a "Quantum Leap" reboot. Velton Ray Bunch is still alive, and hopefully would take on scoring it.

I've posted of the decade my thoughts on what a continuation would be like:

Project Quantum Leap was shut down well over a decade ago, citing the extreme costs, the inability to properly control it, and a missing man who was never brought home.

Meanwhile Sam's daughter, Sammyjo, has grown up and studied in to become a scientist. For years she had rallied forces to try and bring back Project Quantum Leap and learned everything should could about how it works, in conjunction with Al. Ultimately, she yearns to find her father and bring him home.

Violent terrorist attacks have made he government re-consider the project and give serious thought to bringing it back.

Everything is fired up and ready to demonstrate when a last-minute call from an un-named Congressman, gives word a suddenly halt has been put to it and it'll be all packed up. Realizing this may be her final chance at trying to bring her dad back, Sammyjo steps into the quantum accelerator, and vanishes.

And so the show continues.

Plot Ideas:

After maybe two years of searching for her dad and giving up, she accidentally stumbles upon him, but he is shot just as she leaps, with his fate left undetermined.

Ssmmyjo encounters the Evil Leapers, who have been un-doing what Sam has done, forcing her to put things right again. And many other surprises.

During this time she eventually finds her father again. Over time Sam became jaded, lost contact with Al, and ultimately lost faith and hope, which in turn had God abandon him so that Sam may find God again. During this time Sam leaps aimlessly, searching for hope that never arrived year-after-year, decade after decade. She informs him that Al has sadly passed away.*

Noe a new wrinkle unfolds: they discover the government has leaped a man in, who is mis-using this in the face of God, to turn events and history as a cabal of Washington elites think time is something that can be tinkered with to yield desired results.

* = in real life Dean Stockwell has been having serious issues which have forced him into a home, last I recall reading. I have no idea what his current situation is. Perhaps he is well enough now to make a cameo in the pilot.

Marcia Lucas tells it how it is. JJ Abrahms is a terrible writer.

I'm not sure I want to see Dean Stockwell back as I heard he wasn't in the best of health and I don't want to see him like that on screen.

There are some shows that I love but I'm not sure I want to see come back and Quantum Leap is one of them. I'd rather those five seasons stand alone.

I had a hard time finding updates on his health, but a quick search suggested that as of 2018 he was in good enough shape where he was able to travel overseas. Unfortunately, like Peter Falk in the later years of his life, he has no memory of his infamous character.

Dean Stockwell always seems ageless to me, but, with a shock, I remembered that he has been around as an actor (Gentlemen's Agreement, etc.) since the 1940s! I wish him much comfort in his current aged state.

He had a stroke in 2015 and is retired from acting.

What's telling is that he doesn't do comic cons anymore. He used to do those and then stopped.

Do you mean Peter Falk?

While I do agree the newest three were not very good and Episode IV is my favorite movie of all time,
Harrison Ford only agreed to do the new version by having Han solo killed. It was Ford's idea.

Mark Hamel killing him... got screwed.

Ford was looking to be killed off in the original trilogy, too. They could have ignored him like Lucas did back then. It may have made it harder to get him to do any films, but in the end I think a fat large paycheck would have easily swayed him.
