I was gonna order this but ends up I already have it. I need to rip it open and give her a spin. I'm not familiar with the score at all.

Uhhhh yeah you do. Why did you buy it if you weren't going to open it? Anyway, it's freaking great and every serious Horner fan should own it. Great movie, too.

There are two possible reasons for buying any physical music album and not playing it, and neither of them are flattering.
A) You don't want it because you to listen to it, you just want it for the sake of having it.
B) You want to sell it for inflated prices when it goes OOP.

C) You buy things as they come available but you already have a stack of things you haven't opened yet - because you bought those as they came available - so it goes into the pile for later listening and then life and other priorities shift the pile and everything around it.

Or, the CD was bought with some other CDs, you don't get the chance to immediately open and play it, and it gets buried under other things until you forget having purchased the CD. I have certainly found a few surprise CDs over the years that I had purchased, never had a chance to open or play and then forgotten about.

As for this release, it is a great score. I gave the expanded score another listen the other day.

Edit: Sorry Mike Essss, I didn't notice your comment immediately above mine.

Nothing nefarious. As Esssss and Scorefan suggested there are other reasons. Its not a score I'm familiar with. I usually don’t gravitate towards drama scores. But its Horner and I liked the sound samples so I picked it up. It however got put on the shelf with the intentions of "listening to it some day".

Score purchases fall under, "must haves", "will get eventually" and "blind buys". The blind buys usually fall under “listen to some day”. Sometimes I find things I have no recollection of ever purchasing on my shelf. While my collection maybe small compared to some, I still have nearly a thousand CD’s. We score fans have an embarrassment of riches, don’t we?

Essential Horner. Get it while you can.

I love when this happens!

For sure pick it up if you haven’t yet. It’s my favorite score and the reason I got into film music in the first place. Also one of my favorite movies. The LLL expansion is great but in case it goes OOP, the Big Screen Records original is wonderful and nearly complete.
