Thanks. Did you learn anything new?

Yes, for example, I did not know that Panarama composed score for Fire and Ice. I always mistakenly thought Faltermeyer scored. And I didn't know exactly how Harold got the job on Thief of Hearts.
So, thanks again for taking the trouble to explore these nuances.
By the way, I am very pleased that you speak very well of the Tango and Cash score - this is my favorite score!

The Thief Of Hearts story is mentioned in his book called Gruss Gott, Hollywood. It's in German but I understood parts of it!

I still contend that Harold has an understanding of what a film needs musically and can deliver in a way that no other composer in history can match.
As a trained engineer, Harold's ability to program a synth and then compose a score all while understanding the use of a great pop song to further the narrative AND make for a great record is just... yeah. NOBODY else can do this!
God I can not wait for the new Top Gun. Love live Harold!
And great article. Thanks for the retrospective.

Mr. Faltermayer must feel all warm inside knowing that at leaat one person know all his works and even consider him legendary.

Good form, Jan!

Since we are talking also about the score Thief of Hearts, I confess I really want this score to be released in complete. Forgive me even more than Top Gun (it anyway will be released soon)!
9 years ago I heard for the first timeof this score.
The Love Theme from the soundtrak album after the first listening haunted me all night. I was very impressed with this track. I love this melody, which is repeated throughout the film in different variations. In addition, the score contains many different disco-style material. I think, Harold did his best. Love very much this score!

Yes, the Thief Of Hearts love theme is indeed mesmerizing.

Interestingly, it got used as theme music for 167 episodes of the mexican TV series JUANA IRIS in 1985:
