Hey folks,

I sometimes get the impression the only thing the members of this board likes is action music. Crash! Bang! Wallop! Du-Du-Du-Du-Du-Bam!

Hey, I love a good action cue too, albeit the ones I like are more musical than the ones we tend to get today.

But, I have a confession that will shock you. I don't think action music is the high art of film music.

For me, the high art is the expression of more intimate emotions.

I consider the art of the love theme to be higher than the art of the action cue.

Thefore, I'm prompted to ask, what are the great love themes of the last ten years?

Cheers

The love theme for Yen and Geralt from The Witcher 3...

Particularly the harp solo version:

The Han/Qi’ra theme was a good one. Sadly, the only other one I can think of is from...Get Out.

Would you believe I was going to post this exact topic after the action cue one? Great minds.

To this already impressive pile I would add a few more:

The love theme from Black Gold is one of Horner's finest:

Horner also wrote a decent theme for the risible Amazing Spider-Man:

And of course despite being mostly warmed-over The New World/Sneakers, Horner's Romeo and Juliet was quite pleasant as well:

Perhaps not strictly a love theme (more of a friendship theme) but Olivia's theme from Paper Mario: the Origami King ticks all the boxes for me:
