Murphy is a Liverpool lad. One of my mates gave him and his gear a lift once. Before he was a biggish name composer. We were on our way to see a movie he'd scored (Miami Vice I think). My mate had no idea where he'd ended up. Just some mild trivia...
Great ..another one finger to the idea of film music being an important part of the product. To create a film trilogy and change the composer on the last one (I’m looking at you ‘Bill & Ted’) shows utter disdain for the idea of a musical voice being a major part in an ongoing story.
I'm OK with them bringing on a new composer in a series as long as the composer and director make the effort to keep the musical voice intact and incorporate some of the established themes into the new film. I really liked Tyler's main theme for GOTG (especially the "Dad" cue on Vol. 2), so I hope they at least carry that over, especially with Vol 3 being more of a dramatic resolve with the group.
