Hey, Henry, you could always send it to me, King Solium and Ockdog and we’ll frame it for you!
We’re real pros - KingDoggz Perfeshunal Poster Framing Is Us!
We’ll frame it up and send it back for way less than Michaels, and it’ll be your original, we promise! We won’t even make any copies (as far as you know)!

wink

Oh, yeah, framing my little autographed comic strip was going to set me back upwards to 200 clams before I decided on the Economy Model.

Rely on a house pet to supply your framing needs, Henry, and you'll get just about what you'd expect! smile

Yep, ridiculously expensive. I have many animation cells I would love to mat and frame. The cost keeps them stuffed away in a drawer instead of proudly displayed on my office wall.

I had the original UK quad posters for Batman and The Living Daylights framed by my then girlfriend in the late eighties for £30 a pop. Don't know how much that is today. But they're still around. Were on the walls for years and got some great looks from workmen during that time...

So I bought the poster frame from Michaels, and they framed it for me for $34. They did a beautiful job too! No creases or waves in the poster, they must have glued it down because it looks fantastic I couldn't be happier with it.smile

Wait! $350.00 to $34.00? What’s the difference? Is it the cost of cutting of the mat?

Pretty much. It was a nice surprise. I recommend them highly.

So Henry they just put it in a frame without a mat just the cardboard backing?

Yeah, I don't understand. Cutting a mat doesn't cost $300 dollars. A single mat is not a big deal and anyone could measure and cut one in 15 minutes. When you get into fancy stuff like double mats or special cuts it can get more complicated, but still not $300 dollars complicated. Ive had some framing and mats done for some of my animation cells from the company I purchased them from and they charged $100 dollars per cell. That's for everything, the frame, mats, materials and labor.

Henry did, in fact, send me the poster.
I couldn't help myself.
I ate it.

Correct, there was no need for a mat it fit perfectly without one. When I called the first time they misunderstood me, I'm not sure what they were thinking, but when I stopped in I checked again and that's when I got the $34 estimate.smile

You know if you turn those vinyl record frames vertically it will fit a Playboy centerfold perfectly.

I went back to Michaels with a 27" by 40" STAR TREK movie poster checklist poster, and it cost $40 for the frame and $25 for the work, and again they did a beautiful job!

Not super cheap, but I guess affordable if you do a couple a year. I have a whole lot of animation cells I need framed. I might look into them.

Saying Michaels is a "professional framer" is like saying McDonalds is a "genuine hamburger".

Quality matting, linen backed with UV / museum glass - its all expensive stuff. $350 is not an unreasonable price for a full sized one sheet.
