STAR TREK---George Takei commented on William Shatner's flight into outer space on the Blue Origin New Shepard spaceship, "He’s boldly going where other people have gone before. He’s a guinea pig, 90 years old, and it’s important to find out what happens. So 90 years old is going to show a great deal more on the wear and tear on the human body, so he’ll be a good specimen to study. Although he’s not the fittest specimen of 90 years old, so he’ll be a specimen that’s unfit!"
One STAR TREK fan tweeted, "If it weren’t for William Shatner, would anyone know of George Takei?" Another fan replied, "It is a little sad that after all these years Takei still can’t let go of grudges. I mean they’re 84 and 90! Time to move past that sh*t."
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---a shot from the new Season 4 trailer shows the redesigned Ferengi in a Starfleet uniform. The trailer also showed the Federation's female president who is human/Cardassaian/Bajoran.
LOVE AND DEATH---photo from the HBO Max miniseries shows Elizabeth Olsen playing Texas schoolteacher Candy Montgomery, who axed her friend, Betty Gore, to death while she was having an affair with Betty's husband
AVATAR---James Cameron commented on the record-breaking money AVATAR and other movies are making, "Now, a year from now, AVATAR 2 is going to come out. Is it still possible to make that kind of money? I don’t know. I would love it if another film came out and made more money than AVATAR sometime between now and then. Then I’d know the business I invested 40 years of my life in is still there and still healthy."
SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON---Rachel Weisz will star in the remake of the 1964 movie based on the novel about a psychic medium who persuades her husband to kidnap a child so she can help the police find the child and enhance her reputation. Richard Attenborough and Kim Stanley starred in the original movie.
CAT PEOPLE---Emilia Jones, Nicholas Braun, Michael Gandolfini and Isabella Rossellini will star in the movie based on the NEW YORKER short story.
MISFIT CITY---HBO Max tv series underway based on the graphic novel about teenagers who find a pirate map showing buried treasure in their town.
TRIVIA---contrary to popular belief, Jack Webb never said, "Just the facts, ma'am" on the popular cop series. In 1953, Stan Freberg's DRAGNET parody, "St. George and the Dragonet" included lines such as, "How can I be sure of that, ma'am" and "We just want to get the facts, sir." However, it was in the 1987 DRAGNET spoof movie where Dan Aykroyd first said, "Just the facts, ma'am".

George Takei has just been saying one stupid thing after another for almost a decade now. From mean spirited fat jokes and old guy jokes about Shatner going into space to his willful ignorance of the Enlightenment, he just doesn't stop. There's more, but I'm not spending my time thinking of them and looking up details to make sure I remember correctly. This guy has the mental maturity of a sixteen year old.

I'm obviously not the Trekkie I should be. I didn't even know Shatner and Takei had a feud going. I've read up on it a little to put this stuff in context.
Takei's comments don't seem all that nasty to me, seems like there's a lot more fuss over them on different websites than they seem to rate.
What he said was actually quite honest, really, if unnecessary. That he made a public thing of it really makes him look bad, not Shatner. Takei comes off as a bitter old man.
Of course when things are stewing as much as their feud appears to be, comments like these probably sting more than they might otherwise.
It's unfortunate that they can't just let go, especially at their ages. When you're lying on your death bed will you really think, "I'm glad I never forgave that jerk!"?
Shatner is more than happy to put Takei in the rear view. Think about it: Takei was a part time employee Shatner worked with on and off for three years over five decades ago. They got together for 6 films and aside from the odd numbered films, they spent VERY little time together (none at all in the final film). Shatner barely knows him but for some reason that irks Takei.
"We worked together for years! Star Trek was an ensemble cast until Shatner made it a star vehicle!"
Bullshit.
It's simple jealousy. Shatner has had a fruitful career for over 70 years. Takei had minor acting roles until Star Trek (which was frankly still minor) and then got typecast into oblivion. He needed conventions to stay in the public eye. Then politics and activism. Now all he has is this "feud." Takei is the one keeping this shit alive.
Now he's really just making it next level nasty and proving that, regardless of what various actors say about Shatner, Takei is the real douchebag here.
Shatner has never badmouthed his coworkers in the press without prompting - and it's generally about Takei and how weary he is over the bullshit.

Shatner and Nimoy had some kind of bad blood between then as well, but they patched it up not to long before Nimoy's passing. I vaguely recall Shatner was the one who made the effort.

George Takei is a C list actor who has only ever played supporting roles and yet, like other button-pushers from ST:TOS has had his ego flattered by fandom, to such an extent that he believes he was a star of the show. Quite simply, he never was and frankly Sulu was totally replaceable - as helmsmen, all he had to do was turn the ship port and starboard, or for a real acting challenge, put it in reverse. In the 60s NASA used chimps to do that, so basically that’s all Sulu was - a chimp with a rapier sword. Often the chimps were probably better actors.
While Takei wasn’t quite as dreadful an actor as fellow seat-warmer Walther Koenig, he was never star material and had it not been for the sucess of Trek, he doubtless would have faded into obscurity by now. Personally, I’m disappointed he didn’t because I think the guy is a bit of a wanker.
As an aside, I’ve never seen Shatner live. I have however been at two Trek cons where Japanese steering-wheel dude was a guest and both times several people noticed how much attention he was paying to some of the younger male fans. Draw your own conclusions.

I can tel you what people at a Trek message board said about conventions: convention people (overseeing, what ever -- don't recall the precise words) said watch out for him; he liked the young ones. And I think I sort of remember that he would try to get them drunk and take them to his room.

How can successfully sending a 90 year old man in space have a downside? Mr. Takei seems unable to come to terms with the fact that he was not much more than a footnote in the Star Trek legacy. A bit sad and pathetic really (and his nonce-like behavior, if true, is quite disturbing).
Kudos to Bill! He's approaching, consolidating really, his status as a legend.
