STAR TREK---the war of the words continued with William Shatner posting his reply to George Takei's jab at Shatner's flight onto space on the Blue Origin New Shepard, "Don’t hate George. The only time he gets press is when he talks bad about me. He claims 50+ years ago I took away a camera angle that denied him 30 more seconds of prime time TV. ????? I’m giving it back to him now by letting him spew his hatred for the world to see! Bill the ??"

— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) October 16, 20

Previously, Shatner said about Takei's war of words, “There’s a psychosis there. There must be something else inside George that is festering, and it makes him unhappy that he takes it out on me … Why would he go out of his way to denigrate me? It’s sad, I feel nothing but pity for him.”

THE MUNSTERS---Rob Zombie released a photo showing the cast (Jeff Daniel Phillips, Shari Moon Zombie and Daniel Roebuck) on the film set in Hungary.

WONDER WOMAN 3---director Patty Jenkins said the second sequel is underway, and Lynda Carter confirmed she will appear in it. Jenkins said, “[WONDER WOMAN 1984] gave me a chance to do a lot of things that I couldn’t accommodate in the first movie. I was so happy to tell the Wonder Woman origin story. It was almost her birth, but we really haven’t seen what she is capable of. It is exciting for me to show her at the peak of her strength. But it is also very important that she fights an internal struggle: she is a Goddess and tries to help humanity. She is not only someone who fights evil, she tries to show bad people how to improve. It’s an interesting dilemma.”
She added, “The next one is probably my last Wonder Woman movie, so I have to put everything I want to show there. We have to think carefully.”

HALLOWEEN---Jamie Lee Curtis was asked if she had seen the HALLOWEEN movies in which she did not appear, "No. I wouldn't watch a horror movie if you paid me...."=And I say that with all of the people at Universal going, 'Oh my God, did she just say that? On camera?' I am not a fan of the genre."
She added, "I don't like being scared. Maybe that's why I'm good at it. Maybe they found the one actress who kind of abhors violence and abhors suspense, and drama, and the creeping around and things jumping."
She also commented on how her mother, Janet Leigh, who starred in PSYCHO, would have felt about the #MeToo movement, “I don’t think Janet would have ever acknowledged if there was any bad behavior. She was, it’s a bad term, but kind of Pollyanna-ish about the industry. I think the #MeToo movement would have really upset her. It’s not fair to unpack that, because she’s dead and I’m not going to put words in her mouth, but knowing her, I think she would not say that he misbehaved in any way. I don’t think Janet would ever have acknowledged anything, because from her standpoint, she was just grateful. That was very much her take. I think she would have looked at it as, “That was just the way it was.”

HBO MAX---renewed TITANS, DOOM PATROL and PENNYWORTH.

Y : THE LAST MAN---FX cancelled the series.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
LIVE AND LET DIE was Roger Moore's first James Bond movie, and he almost co-starred with Diana Ross, who would have been the first black Bond Girl, Solitaire.
Writer Tom Mankiewicz said, “One of the things that I wanted very much was for Solitaire to be played by a black woman. When it came time to do it, UA [United Artists] was quite frightened of it for legitimate reasons from their point of view: the picture was going to be very expensive and they wondered, outside of cities like New York and London, how well that would go over with a new Bond. They`d had the experience of Her Majesty`s Secret Service. They were real careful.”
Both Mankiewicz and director Guy Hamilton felt a black leading star would "alleviate" the all-black Bond Villains. A compromise was reached with Solitaire being white (Jane Seymour), and 007 would sleep with a black Bond Girl, Rosie Carver (Gloria Hendry).

Solitaire was indeed a fine-looking woman, but Rosie had a figure to die for.

(Sorry, I seem to be fixated on figures ever since I mentioned Yvonne Romain yesterday.)

Thanks, Dragon53!

I liked Gloria Hendry in LALD. I think she'd have made a great Solitaire. Diana Ross - I don't know.
When I saw it in the theater, I was rather annoyed that a guy my dad's age was bedding women only a few years older than me. I know, it's Bond; but sheesh, Moore looked every bit of his age.

Geez, didn't you put everything you wanted into 84, how did that turn out?

He claims 50+ years ago I took away a camera angle that denied him 30 more seconds of prime time TV!

No self reflection, no empathy, no remorse, no understanding of the harm hes done to others. A history of backstabbing other people then pretending hes the victim. He sure is delusional.

I hope The Munsters is ok, but there's no getting away from the fact that the original cast nailed it so well that it's impossible to satisfy anyone with a new version.

Herman is such an innocent sweet soul that I find it hard to believe anyone can present that character without the oh so important modern adult humour. And this is one property that is what it is because they had just the right cast, and anyone else will simply just not look right.

And because the original is b&w it LOOKS like an old Universal movie. How can a modern colour film compete?

Maybe Tim Burton with the right team... and his penchant for disaturating the picture..

George has had the time before during and after "Star Trek" to make something of himself other than a bitter ol' man. It's all on him; no one is to blame for his piss-poor behavior but himself.

I tend to agree.

Whether Takei likes it or not, James T. Shatner was the star of the show and nothing was going to change that.
I like Takei, but you're right--he seems to not have invested himself in creating a life "after Trek", while Shatner most certainly did.

I think it's important to remember that Shatner has privately and publicly reached out to Takei (and everyone else who held a grudge) to mend fences.
But I think you can only get your open hand slapped away so many times before you realize it's not worth it any more.
(Some of Shatner's attempts were more successful than others, if I recall correctly.)

Anyway, celebrity egos are a dime-a-dozen--it's what makes them seek celebrity in the first place.
Most of them live in a fantasy reality.

Untrue. When confronted for Star Trek Memories, he admitted his tunnel vision trampled on the feelings of others. Shatner copped to his faults and expressed regret. In print. The only person who didn't take him up on it was Doohan. What else does he need to do? He hasn't worked with any of these people since. Not everyone who worked with Shatner hated him, not everyone loved him. But Takei was a part time employee on a job done 5 decades ago and he's in a snit over things the average person would have gotten over years ago. He continually complains that Shatner ruined his chances to be a success in Star Trek.

Which is bullshit.

The production staff cut Takei out of episodes mostly to save money or because a role would be seen as better suited for the stars. Takei decided to leave to go film a movie for months on end. Shatner didn't do that to him.

Shatner was the paid and billed star of a weekly series. He had the most work to do. He also had to worry that his immediate co-star was stealing his spotlight (and before anyone says Nimoy was a peach - Roddenberry had to call him on the carpet too). And then they added a THIRD regular to the opening credits. The last thing on his mind was undercutting George F'N Takei, who was on set for a day or two per episode he was in. Which wasn't that many.

George Takei is his own worst enemy. He's an actor of limited talent with no career before Star Trek and had decades of fan worship to convince him (and others) that Shatner robbed him of a sweet career in Hollywood. Or, worse, "he didn't even respond to my wedding invitation!" To which Shatner responded, "if he hates me why did he even think to invite me?!" And asked Walter Koenig why he was best man if they didn't hang out at all?

It's all Takei feeding his OWN ego. The very thing he's bashing Shatner for.

Shatner can he a dick, like most people. He can be selfish and overly concerned with his image. Like many actors. But he would like nothing more than to put Takei in the rear view, the man means nothing to him. But George won't stop being a douche. Notice, at no time does Shatner initiate any of this.

You know who ruined the careers of the supporting cast? The fans. Their obsessive adulation made it impossible for them to be seen in other roles. Takei should be pissed at US.

Scott, you've made some excellent points!

One thing that I think - and of course, I could be wrong - but, let's face it.

If not for Shatner, do we get Star Trek? Jeffrey Hunter, (RIP), yada, yada, Nimoy, Doohan, Kelley, Takei, ad infinitum, love him hate him - no Shatner, no Star Trek. It would never have taken off. Not back then.

The supporting cast should probably be glad for the years they had. Maybe he was a jerk, a prima donna, etc., but without him...

(generic Shazam/DC comment) Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate is honestly pretty cool and unexpected. I always did like that character.

The feud between Takei and Shatner saddens me. I am sure Shatner did on occasion thwart a scene or two from the non-Nimoy, non-Kelley actors. I am not sure such was ever done to deprive people... I assume the consideration was the theater. I could be wrong, but that's my guess. That said, even if such took place, the original series was a series focussed on the captain of Enterprise. And Shatner did a damn good job making the show work.

I also think Takei is an excellent actor. It pains me to this day that Captain Hikaru Sulu didn't get far more than just Star Trek VI onboard Excelsior. I think Paramount was braindead not to greenlight further adventures in the TMP universe thereby.

I would hope, as he did with Koenig, Shatner might have an honest sit-down with Takei and make things right. Would be a historic sci-fi shame to see things progress and then end with such animosities still extant.

When Leonard Nimoy directed Star Trek III and IV, he showed a lot of care in giving the whole cast moments in the spotlight that the original series would otherwise never have given them. When Shatner had his turn with Star Trek V, here's how Sulu was portrayed.

- Starts his role by being lost in a forest.
- Is coerced by Chekov into lying to Uhura.
- Gets blown off his horse.
- Betrays Kirk by siding with Sybok in taking over the Enterprise.
- Gets blasted in the face by Spock's rocket boots.
- Finishes his role with Chekov starring at Vixis' butt.

There's also the moment in Star Trek VI where the Excelsior joins the Enterprise in the battle with Chang that was clearly meant to go in a different direction. Star Trek VI opens with Captain Sulu stating that he has completed his three year assignment of 'cataloguing gaseous anomalies'. Yet when we reach the climax of the film, it's the Enterprise that now has this equipment that catalogues gaseous anomalies, not the Excelsior. Apparently Shatner was so opposed to the idea of Sulu coming in to save the Enterprise that he managed to convince the higher ups to simply have Sulu come in just to take a beating while the Enterprise 'somehow' uses the Excelsior's equipment to defeat Chang. When you take that scenario and look at how the final battle is edited, you can see how they try to hide it.

Who cares about what Shatner may have done or what editing was done. In the end the right decision was made: The Enterprise saves the day, Kirk wins, the leads are the stars. That's the way it should have been and was.

This catches my eye.
We all know that the Enterprise magically carrying the equipment was a big plothole, but I never read any material saying that it was Shatner who flexed his muscle to force a change.
