Over on the other side, I knocked together a little poetic ditty (of sorts) for the beautiful Joan, incorporating as many of her beloved Elmer Bernstein's score titles as I could, while still trying to keep it specific in some way.
She liked it so much she suggested that I challenge other FSMer's to compose something similar, using the film titles of THEIR favourite film composers* in a like manner.
Here's the one I did...

When we arrive at God's little acre,
At the height of Summer (and Smoke)
We take a walk on the wild side,
To find desire under the elms,
The tree will cast a giant shadow,
But baby the rain must fall..
Sent from the rain maker,
Like a walk in the spring rain,
We Kings (and Queens) go forth,
During five days one summer,
This is the age of innocence,
And although it's the deep end of the ocean,
We're not too far from heaven.

Over to you.

*I expect a BIG influx of Goldsmith inspired ode's smile

Amazing poem, KeV. Great job with Bernstein. I will have to check out some composers and see if I can do as well as you did. Goldsmith maybe, but I just noticed 7 threads on this page about Giacchino. Considering how many movies Steiner did each year, he could also be an option. Morricone might also work.

Come on members. Do this.

This was fun. Maybe I'll do a more youthful composer when I have time.

I wanted a Rome Adventure
With my beau named Parrish.
Alas he had An Affair to Remember
with That Certain Woman
at A Summer Place with
a lady named Jezebel.

I now have A Stolen Life
And am living Life With Father.

Travel is my Dark Victory so
Come Next Spring I’ll
hunt for the Treasure of Sierra Madre
or visit Key Largo or maybe
journey to Casablanca and then
do a Mission to Moscow.

Finally he is Gone With the Wind and
I’m dating muscular Kid Galahad.

Know that The Great Lie,
The Unfaithful Without Honor
Will face Arsenic and Old Lace
or The Big Sleep
Or The Hanging Tree
not A Band of Angels.
The Searchers will find them
a snack for King Kong.

He was not born on the 4th of July but a decade before 1941,
there must have been a family plot to push him
toward a close encounter with musical greatness.
I am forever grateful, for I would have black Sundays
indeed, a lost world, stuck home alone with my boring
cousins Stanley and Iris or my stepmom if I didn't have his music.

Presuming him innocent of any artificial intelligence, he is
far and away the most naturally gifted composer of
the post-JFK/Nixon era. Once hooked, you will find a new hope
in his music. You may find yourself to be a raider of
his musical empire. An accidental tourist, if you will, of his
Superman-like ability to write melodies and themes.

Worry not, for his last crusade in composing music is still
ahead of us. Like being in a time tunnel or getting lost in space,
like conjuring images of cowboys or wars among the stars,
discovering his music quickens the heartbeeps of your soul.
May the force (and the fury) be with him, always.

Adam, so glad you joined in with KeV's ode. You did a great job of fluently capturing the movies of our living maestro. Bravo!

There was once a thief of Baghdad,
Who dreamt of being the kings thief.
Time after time he cast his wish to the moon.
Fleet of foot was he but had failed to steal something of value.
Oh,to find an emerald, the green fire.
He had the light touch but no,crisis loomed.
He thought there was more chance to pass his camel through the eye of the needle.
Under the watch of the desert fury

O James Horner,
How shall I compare thee to Sergei Prokofiev?
Let me count the ways...

The Odes and the responses have been a lot of fun. More please.

Even though I’m female,
I want to be The Cardinal
And visit Rome in The Big Country.
Or I want to be The War Lord
Or have Huckleberry Finn Adventures.
Maybe I’ll join The Sharkfighters
or The Jayhawkers.

You see I’m a Proud Rebel
who can’t be any of the above
because my name is Rachel, yes Rachel.

But I Have Gun..Will Travel
to the Valley of Gwangi to hunt monsters.

Oh how THRILLING to speak
of a MATCHLESS composer
whose ESCALATION of spirit
I have had a LOVE AFFAIR with,
bringing me DAYS OF HEAVEN.
My PARTNER and I here in THE CITY OF JOY
have basked in his TIME OF DESTINY.
Appealing to all,
THE SCARLET AND THE BLACK,
the FATMAN AND LITTLE BOY,
A GENIUS, TWO FRIENDS AND A CHICKEN.
Some have made an INVESTGATION OF this CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION
and gone on a RAMPAGE,
CROSSING THE LINE becoming HATEFUL.
EIGHT times I held my FIST IN MY POCKET keeping CONTROL
making a U-TURN from THE VIOLENT CITY
avoiding being IN THE LINE OF FIRE.
going toward THE GARDEN OF DELIGHTS
opening the WINDOWS
that made CNEMA PARADISO.
FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
I would listen to a CANONE INVERSO
and attain a STATE OF GRACE.
My MISSION during these TWO SEASONS OF LIFE
was to avoid THE HORNET'S NEST
and find that QUIET PLACE IN THE COUNTRY
where the music is SO FINE
and makes me INCREASE AND MULTIPLY with glee.
You can TIME ME UP or TIE ME DOWN
but THE THING is his contribution to music since 1900
makes him one of THE UNTOUCHABLES.
So that has been it, THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY.
Since his passing there has been a LONG SILENCE,
A GREAT SILENCE but who knows WHAT DREAMS MAY COME.
