Apart from Sinatra's, there are a few other cover versions of Moross' main theme (Stay with me):

Yusef Lateef (1967)

Bob Dylan (2015)

Milo Jones (2014)

Windflowers: The Songs of Jerome Moross (2001)

Other performers (not on YT), Leroy Van Dyke, Arthur Fiedler with the Boston Pops, Nick Noble and Noah Preminger

Thanks for these illuminating song links. I normally despise title songs, especially when they aren't really in the movie. And I had reservations about Moross's fine theme, which struck me as more typical of the wide spaces of the West than either the Boston Irish of the character's background or the Vatican culture of his career. And Bob Dylan's nails-on-blackboard voice is something I avoid like the dentist's drill. Amazingly, the lyrics started to make sense of the whole thing. They express the nature of Tryon's struggle in a way the actor never quite achieves. I've never had an experience like this before. Now I kind of wish they had found a way to work the song into the story.
