I once made the joke it was an unused cue from Sinful Davy, but it was a joke. I must emphasise that before it becomes the next viral urban myth. It's a joke!!

One thing that was remarkable about Ready When You Are is it's the first time an unreleased cue from a score had been recorded for a compilation disc — Who Will By Our Yesterdays.
When I first heard the album, and please remember I wasn't even born when it came out, although I wasn't far behind, I nearly sprayed my mouth full of coffee all over the wall when I realised what this track was.
My only niggle is I feel the track would have been even better without that "washboard" instrument. I really wish that had been mixed down or even out of the mix.

Ready When You Are, JB only got released on CD "as" Ready When You Are, JB by Pendulum / PEG.
The Music of John Barry was a 1976 2LP which was basically a re-compilation of tracks from the CBS library, including SOME, but not all, tracks from Ready When You Are.
(The CD going by that name was the same program at the 1976 2LP, and in fact was issued with the same cover in one of its issues.)
However, Themependium contained (I think) all the tracks from Ready When You Are, JB.

All very confusing lol.
Of those Mitch mentioned, the only one I don't have is the Great Film and TV Hits, so I hope I'm not missing anything important from that. I assume everyone has the Polydor one like my avatar. Also like Mitch, Themependium is the last compilation I've bought as well. Thought I have enough by then!
As far as I can recall, there's nothing on that 1991 compilation (yikes - 30 years ago!) that isn't on the other releases ... except that tr.8 The Lion in Winter is the OST Main Title rather than the CBS/Columbia re-recording.
Off topic, but you will be aware (I presume) that the version of Space March on The Film Music of John Barry (tr.8) runs approx. 10 seconds longer than the usual CBS/Columbia release  . Also, of course, the first half of The Chase (tr.12) is a different version from the usual release ... this portion (1'57") also featured on the Columbia/Legacy re-release of the film's OST, as a bonus track.
I used to know all these variations, omissions et al/ ... now I have to check ... too much other music has passed between the ears
I think we'll leave the Polydor recordings for another thread ...

Plus, my theory is that The More Things Change was an earlier effort as "the" song for OHMSS. Even the title of the song suggests the transition to a new Bond. What's the saying? The more things change, the more they stay the same? Who Will Buy My Yesterdays? may even have been another song attempt.
Of course, Nina van Pallandt did record The More Things Change--with Hal David's lyrics.
So it's possible that Ready When You Are could have had as many as six tracks from OHMSS!
I was in my teen years when this album came out and was just delighted with it. I did wonder why it did not include themes from Petulia and Boom!
Many, many years later when I heard The Lion in Winter Part 2 I was just floored. I would love to see this get a CD release.

One other thing . . .
Of the three CBS albums JB did in the 60s Ready When You Are, J. B. is the only one to appear on CD in its original format.
PEG did put out a CD that I thought would duplicate John Barry Conducts His Greatest Movie Hits--same cover, track listings looked the same, but one of the tracks was different: Wednesday's Child from The Quiller Memorandum was replaced by an alternate version, either the main or end title.
Great Movie Sounds of John Barry, a really important album in Barry's career, has never been released on CD, although all of the tracks can be found on various JB CBS compilations.

Thanks for that Mitch. I didn't know that about The Chase track, it's the PEG release I have of that score.
