I really love this score, despite the dog of a film it's attached to. Newman brings a classy SABRINA-like sound to proceedings, with light romantic scoring alongside fast-paced, knockabout comedy music and a nice jazz-lite vibe. He had about 2 weeks to re-score the whole film*, after Elmer Bernstein's original score was thrown out. Alan Silvestri had also been attached, which shows you how troubled the film was. The two leads had zero chemistry and hated each other during filming, mainly down to Nolte's on-set behaviour, due to his regret at signing up for the film. The Varese Sarabande CD, which features about 32 minutes of score highlights, does play very well as it is, but if there was (m)any additional unreleased score music, I'd buy a Deluxe Edition in a heartbeat. Likewise, if they ever Deluxed MR DESTINY, ICE AGE, WAR OF THE ROSES or AFFAIR OF THE NECKLACE. Any other fans of this score out there, and who's also up for a shiny new expanded edition? *I think he used over 10 orchestrators to help complete the job.
