It! The Terror From Beyond Space played on the Svengoolie program on METV. My first time seeing it. Not a bad flick. Takes place in the far future of 1973! LOL.
I had a nightmare after seeing Jaws in the theater. I had a throw rug in my room and I dreamt the shark jump out of the rug and towards my bed. I woke up screaming.
While films like IT: THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE, PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES and actual "forerunner" DARK STAR are often mentioned as ALIEN precursors, the connection only goes so far. Sure, there's a "premise template" there, but other than that, they're apples and oranges.

Did your rug have teeth? Just askin'.
No, the shark jumped out of the rug like it was a pool of water.

More than a premise, Alien lifted scenes right out of the movie. Characters dying one by one. The alien carrying his victims away, going into the crawl space of the ship and opening an airlock to kill the alien. The only funny part is instead of the alien being sucked out into space they kill the alien by depriving him of oxygen which there is next to none on Mars!
