GAME OF THRONES---WarnerMedia head Bob Greenblatt commented on canceling the $30 million prequel pilot BLOODMOON that would have starred Naomi Watts, “When I saw a cut of it in a few months after I arrived, I said to [HBO chief content officer] Casey [Bloys], ‘This just doesn’t work and I don’t think it delivers on the premise of the original series.’ And he didn’t disagree, which actually was a relief. So we, unfortunately, decided to pull the plug on it. There was enormous pressure to get it right and I don’t think it would have worked.”
Greenblatt and Bloys then decided to proceed with HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, “I’m the one who encouraged Casey to green-light it to series. I said, ‘let’s not risk $30 million on a pilot.’ You can’t spend $30 million on a pilot and then not pick it up. So I said, ‘Let’s not make a pilot. Let’s get a great series that we feel good about, and just make it. Or not.’
They made the first pilot because they were protecting their own downside and protecting that brand, which I understand, but it was critical that we somehow continue that franchise and move quickly, which meant getting the series into production ASAP. That’s always a nail-biter, but I think the new show that is coming will be incredible.”

GHOSTED---Chris Evans and Ana de Armas will star in this Dexter Fletcher romantic action movie written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. De Armas replaced Scarlett Johansoon who had a schedule problem.

JAMES BOND---Ryan Reynolds said he is interested in being the new James Bond, "I hear they’re looking for a new Bond. Could you accept a Canadian sipping gin and tonic instead of a martini? If so, I’m interested."

BAD MONKEY---Vince Vaughn and Michelle Monaghan star in this Apple TV+ series based on the Carl Hiaasen novel about Florida detective Andrew Yancy who is demoted to restaurant inspector and investigates a severed arm which leads to uncovering massive corruption and environmental disaster.

HELLO STRANGER---Jordana Brewster, Sam Worthington and Luke Grimes star in this sci fi movie about an android copy of a woman's deceased husband who is being pursued by a government agent.

47 RONIN---Mark Dacascos and Anna Akana will star in the sequel to the 2013 movie.

TURNER & HOOCH---Disney+ cancelled the series.

TRIVIA---the GILLIGAN'S ISLAND opening credits theme song says the SS Minnow carried seven people, "...with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the Professor and Mary Ann..." However, the Minnow shown in the opening credits has eight people. Ginger and Mary Ann are 1 & 2, Gilligan and the Skipper are 3 & 4 and the Howells and the Professor are 5-7. The unidentified helmsman is 8.

So, it WASN'T Skipper's fault after all! Wonder where they buried the helmsman?
wink

More GI trivia - apologies if you've posted this before, Dragon:
The pilot for the series was filmed over several days in November of 1963 on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The last day of shooting was scheduled for November 23, 1963 in Honolulu Harbor for the scenes showing the S.S. Minnow embarking on its fateful three-hour tour. Filming was delayed by several days because the harbor was closed and in the opening credits, the American flag can be seen flying at half-mast (JFK) in the background.

Also:
"Allergy Time" on GI was the second time Russell Johnson played a role in which he was trying to help someone with an allergy. Everyone thought they were allergic to Gilligan, but it was really his hair tonic.
On The Real McCoys "Allergies Anonymous", Johnson (as Dr. Ross, with jet-black hair) tries to help George when he thinks he's allergic to Grandpa Amos' checkerboard, when it was really caused by the corn Pepino had imported.

And the first pilot had a completely different song.

And the first pilot had a completely different song.

It was terrible.

Wow, that reminds me Doctor Who premier was on the day JFK was assassinated. The show got crushed in the ratings.

The thing I found baffling about GI is that the Professor could use coconut shells and bamboo to make a washer/dryer and laboratory equipment but he couldn't fix a two foot hole in a boat.

Could've been washed overboard and drowned out at sea. That's the realistic take anyways!

Then you wouldn't have a series.
