TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7

MUNICH: THE EDGE OF WAR---trailer released for the Netflix movie based on the World War II novel.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQ7x8odi-OU

JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION---Colin Trevorrow commented on DOMINION, "This is a rare film where it is so different from anything that I’ve ever seen before, I didn’t know what to watch as inspiration. Honestly, we watched a lot of nature documentaries. I watched a lot of Planet Earth. The movie does rely on the animals acting and reacting in ways that feel natural."
Also, a new photo shows Bryce Dallas Howard being pursued by what appears to be a Therizinosaurus.

BLACK ADAM---photo released from the movie starring Dwayne Johnson.

THE BOYS---photo released of Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.

THE PENGUIN---Colin Farrell will return as The Penguin in the HBO Max THE BATMAN spinoff tv series about The Penguin's rise to power.

KANSAS CITY---Sylvester Stallone is in negotiations to star in this Paramount + tv series about a New York mobster who seeks to establish a mob stronghold in Kansas City, Missouri. Taylor Sheridan (YELLOWSTONE) and Terence Winter (BOARDWALK EMPIRE) are the creators.

FRED ASTAIRE---Tom Holland said he will star in a Sony Pictures Fred Astaire biomovie, “I am playing Fred Astaire. Yeah I am. The script came in a week ago. I haven’t read it yet. They haven’t given it to me. I know that Amy Pascal [Sony Pictures head] has the script. She Facetimed me earlier. I was in the bar and we had a lovely Facetime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire.”

FEVER---Alessandro Nivola (THE MANY SAINTS OF NEWARK) is in talks to play Peggy Lee's boyfriend, guitarist Dave Barbour, in the Peggy Lee biomovie staring Michelle Williams.

TRIVIA---December 7, 2021 is the 80th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor which brought the US into World War II. In the Pearl Harbor movie TORA! TORA! TORA!, the B-17 Flying Fortress used in the movie developed a landing gear problem when its right landing gear would not lower. After the pilot notified the film crew, the film crew told him to delay landing so a camera crew could set up and film it. The crash landing was then used in the movie.
The B-17 pilot, Maj. Truman Landon, was played by character actor Norman Alden, who served in the Army during World War II. Alden may be best remembered for playing Lou Caruthers, owner of Lou's Cafe, in BACK TO THE FUTURE.

How about writing inspiring characters instead of looking for the next gimmick?
I know these movies make money but they're as lame as Jaws spin-offs.

Good to know their first thoughts were for the safety of the pilot and not the shot. Who was the director, Eli Cross?

Ha, & a photo shows Bryce Dallas Howard being chased by a dinosaur, no doubt she's got her high heels on under the water. They can come out with all the old bollocks, but once the film opens it'll be obvious that it's the same old crap.

That trailer looks very good, albeit overly long (you had me a minute in).

eek

Yeah, for gosh sake! Hopefully, the pilot and air crew were ok. I hope they got extra pay for that at the very least.
I always wondered how that scene happened. I assumed they had a B-17 that was destined for the scrapyard and used it; I imagine it was scrapped after that.

There were some other scenes in TTT that looked like some close calls, safety-wise; particularly the airfield strafing scenes. The P-40 that blew up while taxiing, with its propeller skittering across the pavement, etc., I don't think they planned that.

~1:35 mark

Wow, what a fantastic action sequence. Just can't beat using real props. Really makes Pearl Harbor look like a cartoon.

WTF? Pearl Harbor was a real event that happened. It took 2.4 thousand American lives; and was indeed a tragic day in our history, military or otherwise. You think it was a cartoon?!

What?! Pearl Harbor was a real event??? I thought it was a hoax, staged by liberal Hollywood.
LMFAO!

Quicksand? You mean, Claire might actually...nevermind, that's too much to wish for...

Yeah, that Michael Bay film was just hard to watch. Tora Tora Tora was dry as hell but the finale is still impressive to watch.

Definitely agree about Tora Tora Tora vs Pearl Harbor. Bay's version was on a couple of nights ago, and I watched part of Emmerich's Midway last night. I sort of hate to say it, but they get worse on me now with each watching. Maybe I just wasn't very receptive, because I mostly like Midway, but as I watched it, it looked more like a high-def video game than an actual event.

And, thanks as always, Dragon! smile

Are you for serious?
King Sol was referring to the film of that name.

When the Arizona 'sploded in Bay's movie it looked pretty impressive, I must say.
All of the rest of the film... not so much.

OCTOBERMAN:

According to director Richard Fleischer, TORA! TORA! TORA! was also supposed to have a great closeup shot of the Arizona blowing up, but the engineer in charge said the full-size Arizona replica could not take the explosion safely or something like that, so it was cancelled. Instead they used the distant shots of the Arizona blowing up---the closest shot is partially obscured by another ship in the foreground.

Also, of the four battle ships that were sunk (Arizona, Oklahoma, California and West Virginia)---the California and West Virginia were raised, repaired and eventually returned to combat.

I really must get around to buying a nice edition of TTT one of these days.
I have no excuse for not having one yet.

I must apologize. Solium is a user I have such a difficult grasp on and had truly forgotten all about the Michael Bay film so I assumed they were just being an odd, spiteful jackass of sorts. It was my mistake. Though I do agree with the sentiment. Bay's film was dire, forgettable, and a cartoon.

My apologies, Solium. I misread your comment and assumed the worst.

No problem man. I blame it on the holidays. Everyone is a bit on nerve during the festive time of the year. smile

So, Black Adam has the same director as Jungle Cruise from earlier this year? I sure hope James Newton Howard is brought on board to score!

I for one hope she is running around in her high heels again. She's about the only reason worth watching these films forwink
