He's my all-time favorite composer and I think there's a good chance I am.smileBesides me he's not really talked about much here.

Apart from his mum, I think you probably are.

It’s good to be known for something!

YES, Henry, you definitely are. At least among every single member who's ever posted anything at all, in the history of The FSM Message Board, you are! This would include Sones as well, who works in the shadows; and no one ever sees.

Hey Henry,

Start talking about Jerry Goldsmith more and you will get all kinds of kick backs!

BTW, I'm a huge Bill Conti fan.

Yes. Even when I loved him the most in the days of FIST, SLOW DANCING IN THE BIG CITY and UNMARRIED WOMAN did I have the passion you have. It's a great thing.

Thanks Morricone! I love other composers too, but I just don't have the same passion for others like I do for Conti's music.smile

Bill Conti is great, his Rocky Theme is one of THE iconic movie themes, like STAR WARS or JAMES BOND.

As it just so happens I was currently listening to Rocky II. I love the soft cues from the Rocky series. So good!

When I opened, this thread, I had just finished a first listen to F.I.S.T./Slow Dancing in the Big City, which I just ordered used last week. Great album that I'm astonished it took me nearly twenty years to hear. Really love the Balletto track especially.

I've been slow to get on the Conti bandwagon - but bit by bit my own collection is growing. (Heck I hadn't even seen any of the Karate Kid movies until last year this time, which is silly since I was a video store manager when they came out!)

I've always loved this quote from Mr. C: "I just want to write pretty, melodic music." He does it as well as anyone ever in the business, and with less sentimentality than most.

Your love is well-placed, Henry.

If you are the biggest Conti fan in the world (and I'm betting there's somebody in Italy who could challenge you to that title) then you have undoubtedly picked up the new blu ray of Slow Dancing In the Big City. There's a brand new interview with Conti that runs 7 minutes. It was conducted over zoom, so it kinda looks like he's being held hostage by Henry somewhere.

So, yeah, I picked up the blu ray. This is the first time it has been released on home video. So far I've only watched the interview. I'll get to the film soon, because it looks like a perfect Christmas movie, without actually being a Christmas movie. I totally missed this in the cinema, when I was going all out to see more Avildsen/Conti pairings. Slow Dancing was made right after Rocky. I played the LP to death when it first came out.

F.I.S.T is a powerful score.

No, I am.

The Falcon Crest theme is probably my all-time favorite TV show theme. Especially that season one main title.

I'm glad you love him too! FALCON CREST, tied with NORTH AND SOUTH, is also my favorite tv theme ever! I would love a release of the entire score to the pilot by Conti. And the DYNASTY pilot by Conti. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY is my favorite song ever, and I love his FYEO score, my favorite Bond score ever. I even like MAKE IT LAST ALL NIGHT.smile

LOL that is some big ego you have there Henry...
So you think there is noone else supporting/collecting/listening more to Contis music than you just because they are not on this forum writing about it?

Why there is not so much talk about him, may depend on that there is not any new music from him and alot of his music is unreleased or not expanded etc
When Contis greatest achievement hasn´t gotten proper releases yet (I´m talking about the Rocky scores) it´s not much you can write about.
I would want his Nomads score to be released too
