The track “It’s Karate Time” is a real hoot! Definitely has a Vince DiCola Rocky IV vibe.

It galls me that Bill Conti isn't given a main credits co-composing credit - or original themes by Bill Conti - since the best moments in the COBRA KAI scoring are all lifted from the best Conti themes - much as CREED did. Is he even credited in the end credits? Ludwig Goransson actually comes up with his own new CREED theme that feels very Conti in spirit (apart from actual Conti lifts throughout the scores of both CREED films) - but COBRA KAI doesn't deliver on any memorable themes to me that aren't lifted from Conti's music. Birenberg and Robinson's music feels like filler until they quote a Conti theme and then the scoring comes alive again.

Completely Disagree. There are at least 6 original "memorable" themes I can hum right at the top of my head.

This perspective just boggles my mind. I'll echo emusician here and say that Birenberg and Robinson's music for Cobra Kai has at least a half dozen recognizable themes I can recall from memory right now, and the beautiful thing is how well they integrate their material so it fits with Conti's and also somehow the source music both from the show and the original Karate Kid films. It wraps up the symphonic and ethnic and rock elements all so seamlessly and beautifully; it's almost as miraculous and unlikely an achievement as the series itself! And the thematic development throughout is particularly impressive -- I think that's the secret of how all those disparate elements are made to flow together so naturally: the thematic core is consistent. So sometimes you'll hear the Cobra Kai theme on rock ensemble, and sometimes it'll be orchestral, and sometimes it'll be a mix. And it all works. By the time we reach the final tournament of season 1, I have a hard time understanding why anyone could be so cold to their work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85sFHRi5_tM

For reference, that's the Cobra Kai theme coming in powerfully on brass from 1:05-1:31 and 2:26-2:48 (and on electric guitar from 1:45-2:01). An unmistakable signature for the dojo in the series, IMO. And a less aggressive, more "balanced" thematic idea for Miyagi-Do karate coming in briefly at 2:53-3:08, which is more thoroughly and powerfully explored in other cues, like this one around 0:45 and 1:16:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YamDt7SpZOc

There are quite a few other more varied ideas which are developed throughout the scoring for all four seasons to date, but with these two core musical identities I'm really surprised if someone has trouble remembering them. I will say that at times the soundtrack albums don't do the thematic nuances any favors, by presenting cues totally out of order so that the gradual development and buildup of the thematic material doesn't really get showcased the same way it is in the show itself.

That said, MAJOR KUDOS to MV and La-La Land for making such efforts to release these excellent season scores on CD -- and with extra music no less! I think this may be my first time ordering early enough for an autographed copy.

Everything Yavar said x100. These scores have so many memorable tracks and themes. I haven't had this much fun listening to soundtracks in many years. Not to mention Conti is credited on the CDs for the tracks that heavily use his themes. Can't wait to pick up the season 4 CD tomorrow. Some people like James Horner ethnic wailing. I like electric guitar wailing. Your mileage may vary, but these are some of my favorite tracks (that I can't get out of my head):

It's definitely in my top 5 of all time. Can't get enough of it. It's one of those miracle shows where everything works perfectly. The CDs put out by LaLaLand are the most legit collectibles for the show. I'm also disappointed in the DVD-only release so far. I'm really surprised we don't have at least a Blu-ray with Sony's involvement.

Anyone out there (way smarter and more energetic than me) have the savvy, courage, and time to compile a chronological track listing for all four of these soundtracks? Extra points of total impressiveness if source music is also included.
