Received my box set today. Really not a fan of the packaging. The mask wraparound was a fun idea but bad in real world use. Too many steps just to play a simple CD. A few minor scratches on some of the discs, but nothing that looks like it could affect playability. And no additional plastic sleeves to protect the disc surfaces from the cardboard.

One positive thing is the size. Thinner than expected. Takes up the same amount of space as two standard jewel cases. As a collector that's always running low on shelf real estate, this was a nice surprise.

I got my set today, and though I don't MIND the idea of a Ghostface mask artwork as a bonus additive to the package, making it a required piece to keep the CD sleeves in the box set I feel is a failure in execution. It doesn't fold back up the way it came out, and now seems intent on trying to unfold and slip out of the box slipcover. I would have preferred a separate box bottom for the sleeves to sit inside. Oh well. I'm happy to have the new material, and happy for the expanded pieces previously left off the two other Deluxe Editions. Almost makes the price worth it.

Mine works/ folds fine. I think it's crap but it works fine.

Gimmicky packaging from Varese backfiring again? Who didn't see *that* coming?

Just binged the 4 Scream movies and I quite liked them but I can't say which one of them was the best or worst. All 4 are solid films.

The music was really good. Currently listening to Scream 3 on Spotify. Some electronic tracks remind me of Michael Kamen's X-Men... And the emotional stuff is just beautiful.

Hopefully It don't take to long for the CD's to arrive.

Forgive me if this has been asked/covered already... but is it safe to assume that the masters for Scream 1 & 2 are the same as the previous Deluxe Editions?

Yes, identical.

CD's arrived and the packeging is really shit. I like the idea but the execution is just bad. Maybe Varese tried to be more "imersive" with this release: You feel the pain the characters went through when you try to put the CD's and the Ghostmask back into the case. Well done Varese.

I also bought Scream 5 and was surprised that Brian reused some Beltrami material. But overall it's by far the weakest of the 5 scores. My ranking so far:

#5: Scream 5
#4: Scream 2
#3: Scream 3
#2: Scream 4
#1: Scream 1

(while making this score-ranking, I listen to Scream 3 and it has huge potential to become #2...)

And my ranking of the films:

#4: Scream 3
#3: Scream 2
#2: Scream 4
#1: Scream 1

My ranking of the Scream scores would be:

#1 - Scream 3
#2 - Scream 2
#3 - Scream 1
#4 - Scream 4
#5 - Scream 5

I dont dislike any of them. Actually I do like most (but not all) tracks from Scream 5, some is amazingly beautiful which I have listened to A LOT lately (specially "Sacrifice", "New Horizons" and "Diversions"). I love that new theme he has created.
BUT...that being said...It just doesnt feel like a Scream score to me....some small parts here and there does, but most of it doesnt. You may say the same about the Scream 4 score. But it sounds a bit more Scream than Tyler's work.

About the packaging... this seems to be an "issue" in this group/thread. But I think its only a "problem" in here. Among the die hard SCORE fans.

I've seen loads of videos, pictures, posts etc in groups for die hard SCREAM fans and they are all ecstatic about this release and love the Ghostface concept of it. And no one complains about it. At all.

I personally have no problems with it (I rip the score into iTunes anyway) and I think it looks neat!

Just received it - if people are complaining about the ghostface folded box, I think the complaint is probably around the asymmetry and consequent weird folding of it, and then of course the requirement that it be folded in place to keep the CDs inside. If you keep it in the case though, you can slide out the CDs and use the mouth as a flap.

My bigger question is about the booklet - there is no track-by-track analysis of the cues. Did the standalone versions of these scores come with heftier booklets?

Otherwise, looking forward to hearing the music!

As with a lot of things, like anti-vaxxers for instance, it's just a very vocal minority how dislike the packaging. Most consumers don't really care one way or another but a small handful in this group somehow think cardboard sleeves are the end of the world.

Varese's Deluxe Editions rarely, if ever, have a track-by-track analysis of the cues. The original booklets for Scream and Scream 2 were also just a couple of pages.

I'm pro-vaxx and anti-cardboard sleeve. The packaging for this release is bad.
