Dormant inside Polish archives (such as a documentary & film studio as well as an audiovisual tech center) for 60 years, a pair of crime jazz recordings emerged onto disc in 2021 thanks to GAD Records.

I've been aware of Polish composer Adam Walacinski (1928 - 2015) for about 20 years because he had written music for 2 feature films [Matka Joanna od aniolów + Pharaoh] directed by Jerzy Kawalerowicz that reside in my home video collection as favorites. Never did I expect, however, that any original recordings of Walacinski's music would surface as a soundtrack album ... yet here they are.

Dotkniecie nocy ("The Touch of the Night") was recorded in 1961 and the film premiered during January of 1962.
About a small-time photographer involved with bank robbery, this flick has an orchestral jazz score sounding not unlike a Kenyon Hopkins effort. (these surviving tapes are not complete and this film's main title & bank robbery music are not on this album)

Dwaj panowie "N" ("Two Gentlemen "N") is complete. Recording sessions were done on December 29th & 30th of 1961; the film was released in March '62. An espionage thriller about 2 men who both were born on February 29th and share the same name, this sounds more like something by David Amram.

This album is about 44 minutes long and one of its bonus tracks is a foxtrot from the 1963 Pamietnik pani Hanki - the only surviving cue from this picture.

If you love jazz soundtracks from the early '60s, then you owe it to yourself to sample this GAD CD.

The relatively renowned Krzysztof Komeda is more my speed when it comes to 60s Polish jazz but will try to give your chap a listen.
