I sent two other inquiries to Waxwork about the situation and both were ignored, so at this point they're just playing stupid and sticking their heads in the sand. What a disappointing turn of events. I will no longer purchase any of their releases.

So, I reached out to Waxworks Records asking whether this product was a properly manufactured CD or a CD-R.

This was their response:

"Thanks for reaching out! This is a compact disc that we got manufactured. Have a nice day!"

Hmm...

That's a bit dickish of them. roll eyes It's a fair question from a potential customer. But they probably don't care since they cater to the Cool Vinyl Crowd.

I'd make a CDR of their CDR, return the item to them and claim a refund (or cancel payment through PayPal).
That'll learn em.

Great news, people. My email to Waxwork made its way up the ladder, and I just received this reply:

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your email and alerting us of this issue. No, this was not intentional. Waxwork was not aware that the manufacturer ran these as CD-Rs since we've never done that in the past. We are having them remade as CDs and will send you a replacement.

Best,
Sue

Josh,

Could you post who you contacted to get a replacement. I ordered two copies and they are both CD-Rs and would like them replaced.

Good info, thanks peeples.

I sent them a note that M3GAN is the same deal,, CD-r. Pretty freaky if they dint know this was happening!

Update: Megan (?!?!) replied and they are repressing that title as well.

Just a heads up that I received a shipment notification for the replacement Cocaine Bear CD.

(For those just joining us, the first batch was mistakenly manufactured as a CD-R; the replacements will be factory-pressed silver discs.)

I'm not sure if they've addressed the issue with the M3GAN CD-Rs, which GoblinScore/Sean reported above, as I didn't purchase that one.

I have CHOPPING MALL, and it's a pressed disc, not CD-R.
