Jazz.....disappointing. I was hoping for some great electro stuff.

Arnold's tracks are not jazz music! They are rock and roll, with funkey keyboard grooves

I haven't heard the Arnold tracks but my guess is that this isn't a Casino Rpyale or Independence Day or Godzilla.......I've never understood why his film scoring career was so derailed.

No, it's more like a Shaft or Made In Dagenham.

I think he got fed up with "the system" and doesn't exactly need the money. Like John Powell, he now just works on things he really wants to.

A shame though, as his Emmerich and Bond material is some of the best action music ever written.

I was going to download the three Arnold tracks but having listened to the samples......perhaps not. Not for me.

This isn't a third film in the series, but a film based off the books and not directly related to the Chevy Chase ones; there's not only no reason why Faltermeyer should be hired, there's no reason to use his theme. Just like if a new Conan the Barbarian film unrelated to the Arnold films came out, there's no reason to use Poledouris' theme.

oh! but they use exactly chevy's movie font for the title

That's actually the font from the original novel series cover art.

not exactly, but is the same as the movies

It's a nice "easy listening" album. Jazz and bossa nova. The Arnold tracks are good.
I'd like a score only album but the album is Ok for what it is.

Last track is very "big bandy", I think. The others might be more funk than jazz, but funk was always jazz-adjacent. I don't hear any rock'n'roll in them.

Regardless, the point was that I had hoped for an electronic score (perhaps seeing Arnold return to his old roots of the 90s JB movies, with those neat electronic interpolations), but too much to hope for, I suppose.
