News about the third second sequel to the original film, curtesy of dragon53 on the other side of the board:
A CHRISTMAS STORY CHRISTMAS---five of the original 1983 movie cast members are returning for the HBO Max sequel: Peter Billingsley (Ralphie), Ian Petrelli (Randy), Zack Ward (Scut Farkus), Scott Schwartz (Flick) and RD Robb (Schwartz).
No word on the composer yet. Both the composers from the original film -- Paul Zaza and Carl Zittrer -- are still alive and not so old they couldn't do it. Paul Zaza is still scoring productions.
One person who won't be returning is Melinda Dillon, who is apparently retired. She played Ralphie and Randy's mom. The role will now be played by actress Julie Hagerty.

I was wondering if she was retired after I saw the trailer. I wonder of she was even asked to consider doing this despite being retired.
Thanks Doc. That was a nice cue. He also did a fun Christmassy score - with Chris Beck - for OLAF'S FROZEN ADVENTURE. He seems to be a very good protege of Beck's, utilising similar solid traits (theme/melody/orchestra).
