Booklet 8 pages with notes of intent by director Christophe Barratier. In collaboration with Lionceau Films and Pathé Films, Music Box Records presents on CD the soundtrack of Christophe Barratier's new film (Les Choristes) Le Temps des Secrets (2022) composed, orchestrated and directed by Philippe Rombi and performed by the Orchestre National d'Île-de-France. Marseille, July 1905. The young Marcel Pagnol has just completed his primary education. In three months, he will enter "high school". Three months... an eternity when you are that age. Because here is the time of the holidays, the real ones, the big ones! Child of the city, this long-awaited return to its dear hills of Aubagne and Allauch, those of The Glory of my father and The Castle of my mother transports him with happiness. He finds nature, the great outdoors and especially his friend Lili always ready to share new adventures, at the age when the time of carelessness gives way to that of secrets. For his new collaboration with director Christophe Barratier, after La Nouvelle Guerre des boutons, L'Outsider and Envole-moi, Philippe Rombi signs a generous orchestral score, both lyrical and intimate to evoke the childhood memories of the young Marcel Pagnol. The Time of Secrets is released in theaters on March 23, 2022. The cast of this adaptation of Pagnol's work includes Guillaume de Tonquédec, Mélanie Doutey, François-Xavier Demaison, Anne Charrier and the young Léo Campion. 1. Samples sound great. Really looking forward to this one. Some good old fashioned (but in a good way) film music.

I really hope this score is selling well for Music Box Records. It really is an absolute delight from start to finish. From the beautiful flute opening (which reminds me of the opening of WAR HORSE), taken up by the harp and strings and then off into the gorgeous waltz-like main theme, this is a real throwback to how scores used to be written and performed. It gets better with every listen too. If you're on the fence about it, do not hesitate. You Will Love It!!! I concur, Kev. It's a beautiful score with that gorgeous main theme. This director seems to bring out the best in him because he also scored 'The War of the Buttons' for him, another gorgeous piece of work. When he writes like this, I prefer him to Desplat. Unfortunately he only wants to work in France. But on the other hand, it might give him more freedom to write like this.
